Trade away AJ and Paul Milssap and let the core 4 play

Post#1 » by AingesBurner » Tue Jan 29, 2013 10:10 pm

I say we trade away Paul and Al for picks and young back up for 2013 and/or 2014 picks, we dont make the playoffs and draft a player such as Archie Goodwin or McCollum-Williams, I would prefer Goodwin. We sign some vets in the offseason. What do all my Jazz fan brethren think??

Do we really need thread about trading Paul and AL for assets that we know nobody is gonna give us.

I also don't like the term "core 4" but thats a different story.

I dont care about assets as much as I do picks. If we could pick up a 13, 14, and a couple of seconds for Paul and Al Jefferson I would be a happy camper. So you dont like the Core 4, how about the Jazztastic 4.

Wait, what? Picks are assets.

Don't make me pull out a Venn diagram.

I mean assets=young players on your roster that you are developing. Picks, yes an asset, dont have as much value to some teams as losing some of there young guys.

One of them or both is going to leave. It would be ideal to trade one of themfor a pick....but they are expiring.

If a team was way over the cap and did not want to get hit with a triple tax it would begood for them to trade for AL....or Calderon.

I really want to think Millsap and Jefferson have some nice value. But when I put myself in the position of just about any other team's GM, I just don't think I would give up much. Which teams are searching for expiring contracts, and do we really want to take on their max players?

This is prplexing. Al still is our best player. This is a business so anyone could be traded. If we give up one or both, what could we get? I would not want to give them up for nothing. Paul wants more money and that is a problem. Whoever takes him is going to have to be willing to pay more next year. Corbin plays who he thinks will win which is understandable but does not develop someone like Burks.

I'm all for it!

But hypothetically, if I were an heir to a multi-million dollar business empire that includes the Jazz, completely indifferent to winning a championship and entirely driven by the bottom line my family's businesses generated, I would say we bench the young players, not fire the sub-par coach, get veterans on expiring contracts and keep pushing for the playoffs (and that playoff $$$).

Then we'll extend the young players, use mid to late first round picks to fill in some roster holes, not take any risks by taking on any long, large contracts, and keep the gravy train running.

You're doing it again. That thing where you nail exactly what the Jazz organization is doing and disabuse me of my mistaken belief that someone at the top of this franchise cares about winning it all.

I'm sorry! I'm trying to stop, but no one in real life wants to hear my whining, so y'all are forced to hear my diatribe.

Off topic, I saw Alec Burks a few days ago at the Walmart. Nice guy. Told him we all want to see him play more (he agreed) and to hang in there.

i see why this would be appealing, but if you trade away paul and al, we have no offensive threat other than gordon, and gordon is not quite ready to be the #1 option on this team. if you want the jazz to get into the lottery then yes, but you have to ask yourself what you want. you want a young team that struggles as it learns together? Houston has a good thing going but they also have a super star in harden, other than that, young nba teams struggle mightily. you really want to go through 2 or three more seasons of mediocre utah basketball? Id prefer we let paul and al walk after this season and use our cap space to try to make a splash in free agency.

What do you guys think it would take for the Raptors to get Milsap? Bargnani, DeRozan...?

Derozan and Bargnani are both overpaid trash. All it would take is a first round though. Otherwise we'll gamble on an extension or a sign and trade.

So Bargnani + 1st round = Milsap?

So I had this idea... we need to convince Greg Miller that there's a rare, limited edition Larry O'Brien Landcruiser that the NBA awards to the champs each year. We need to doctor up a photo of Mark Cuban or Micky Arison next to theirs; then we'll leak the photo onto some Landcruiser enthusiast forums and see what happens.

Lowry and Johnson or the only two non-rookie contracts that the Raptors have that I could see the jazz considering.

Your gonna gonna have to pony up alot more that a 1st rounder (which wil likely be low now that you got gay) for us to even consider bargs or derozen (although I'm higher on derozen than others are).
