In any given year Eli (2011), Flacco (2012) Big Ben, Matt Ryan are in the top 5 but all in the top 10. I dont even know what elite means anymore their is no true definition of the word. As a Giants fan I have just accepted Eli for who he is I know he will have a shred of inconsistency but will come through I really could care less about that elite $hit, and I would say the same to Ravens fans who cares as long as you have a qb that can play on par with the top 4 guns.

The Ravens reminded me of last years Giants, they got healthy and hot at the right time.

This thread is too funny. My take on what went down.

The refs really let them play. On that second Balt drive Flacco threw a perfect ball on the streak to Smith and it looked like clear PI...no call. That set the tone for the game IMO. There were several plays that could have, and would have been called in the reg season, but I give credit to the refs for not becoming part of the game.

That last play I put on Crab for initiating contact. It looks like he wanted to push off and just got caught and held, Kaep threw a good ball in the face off big heat...incomplete pass, game. We can all question the play calls until the the 'moocows' come home...it ain't worth the time. It turned into a really compelling game, which is as all I really wanted. I never counted the '9ers out, even after the TD return to start the 3rd...solid team the '9ers, with a very bright future.

I was pulling for Flacco and Rice...local dudes, so I'm happy with the results. That and the '9ers caused me great pain in the '80s, so boo on them...I hold grudges.

Also, Beyonce did not lip-synch, and girl's thighs make my game-day bucket go boom!!!

What's going on today is exactly the reason why I hate ESPN and why the NFL bugs me...

This Flacco guy throws one fluke hail mary type bomb that gets broken up 9 times out of 10.. then doesn't throw 1 touchdown in the 2nd half last night and does nothing to win that game rather San Francisco loses it and he's now an "elite" QB who is going to get paid. Foh with that nonsense. There are 4 elite QB's in the NFL Brees, Rodgers, Peyton, and Brady.. each one has proven themselves with a sustained period of production and superbowl wins where they needed to do something to help their teams win when the game was on the line.

^ While I agree that the "elite" QBs are only the four you mentioned, Flacco played great last night, and throughout the playoffs. Only 1 of his 3 TD's was that "fluke." You have to give the '9ers D some credit, and the blackout didn't help his second half performance, considering he hadn't taken a snap in 54 min when he finally did. But he made some big throws all night.

He's going to get paid because Balt basically no choice, and he's the best free agent QB on the market this year....so, cha-ching for him. He also has the most road playoff victories(6-4) in NFL history, and now a ring. Not bad for a player in only his 5th year, I'd say. But yeah, ESPN and the media is going to suck him off for a good long while.

The fluke TD I was referring to was the one against Denver. I just wanted to make sure I put that out there.

He's a good QB no doubt.. with a big arm... but he leaned on the defense early in his career and he has Ray Rice in the backfield.

Oh word, that absolutely was a fluke...horrible angle by the Den safety. Your on point about his defense and Rice too, but It's hard for any QB to win without help from a good D, and at least a serviceable RB(see Brady.)

Not really. Eli played really well during both the superbowl runs with 2 totally different groups of WRs/TEs.

SB 42 run Eli was more of a game manager, but he made all the clutch throws. Orchestrating a TD drive in the NFC Divisional game to tie it up at the half with 1:00 left. And in the superbowl yes it was the Tyree catch but let's not forget some of the throws Eli made in the 4th on 3rd down situations also.

SB46 run was all on Eli's shoulders. The defense played their part but the defense was much better in SB42 run.

Right now Eli is still above Flacco, not just cause I'm a Giants fan, but both QB's are hot and cold QB's and wont put the best numbers at times. (Cowboys fans like to look at that stuff and say Romo is the better though.) But Eli has done more in his career so far. Flacco we still have to wait and see. Not that many QB's can win in Lambeau Field twice in January and also win in San Fran in horrible field conditions after being hit repeatedly like he was.

It is hard to consider SF as a legit contender, they have way too many flaws... in addition, no team that has lost the super bowl the previous year ever ended up winning it in the following year. if Jim Kelly and the Bills couldn't do it, then their is no way SF can do it, that Bills teams was 10 times better than SF is now.
