Thoughts on Lebron's FTA/G being the lowest since his rookie year?

It's primarily due to him not getting the calls he typically does. His FTA have been trending downwards in his last 3 seasons, but its a bit excessive this time. He's getting hacked as much as he usually does and the refs are just swallowing the whistle more than they used to. He's also often finishing at odd angles and he hasn't adapted to drawing callable contact yet.

On the flip side, despite the FTA issues a career high eFG% (58.4%) by a MARGIN has still yielded a career high 62% TS, which I expect to be closer to 63% by season's end.
But in his home dwelling...the hi-top faded warrior is revered. *Smack!* The sound of his palm blocking the basketball... the sound of thousands rising, roaring... the sound of "get that sugar honey iced tea outta here!"

I'm wondering what's going on with that, because Durant sure as hell doesn't have trouble getting calls right now.

So is it true that the refs are flipping the script on Bron and giving KD the edge in calls?

fatal made some comments on it in the MVP thread

fatal9 wrote:KD gets his share of superstar calls (and it's annoying) but the reason he's so good at drawing fouls is his long arms. What would be strip or a block against most guys ends up being a foul, because his arms help him keep the ball out of reach. He's also very crafty, there is a major skill and intelligence aspect to drawing fouls that seems to be getting completely ignored here. '98 MJ took more FTs than '90-'93 MJ, but according to posts I read here, that wouldn't be possible because it's all about how much you attack the rim. KD's frame definitely helps him get calls though, but he's also tremendously agile for his size with long strides which helps him beat defenders before they can get position on him. LeBron getting less calls this year shouldn't be surprising, IMO there's a clear difference in how the game is being officiated near the rim this year. The "principle of verticality" rule finally seems to be getting respected by refs again (good to see as a fan of the game) and they are letting a lot of (legal) body contact slide around the rim. I'm surprised there is this much whining going on, it's not hard to see why their FTAs are what they are this year.

btw, I was watching the Heat play Raptors last week with headphones on, you could hear LeBron complain to the ref about KD's fouls. He said something like "all of a sudden Kevin Durant getting in there (inaudible) motherfing (inaudible) 30 times a game", thought that was kind of funny.

Interesting, and plausible. Sounds like Lebron's gonna have to adapt to the new officiating.

He has been shooting better from the foul line lately as well with Ray allen's help.

LeBron continues to look great. Can't say the same for his team though. Miami just refuses to play hard for consecutive games this season, and despite their overall talent, their weaknesses(no size and sucky PGs) are too glaring for them to half-ass it against good teams and expect to win. They are too cocky for their own good right now.

Bosh is a problem for Miami right he has stolen the softest player ever award from gasoline and bargs. Miami lacks focus. They are gift wrapping the MVP for Durant

30/8/7 on 70% TS, and it's yawn-worthy from him. Just absurd.

The only negative from that game was that LeBron falling for Rudy Gay's trick at the end of the game screwed up his TO% LOL

Lebron showing a nice arsenal in the post in the first half of this game. Easy, smooth looking hook shots with both hands.

Then refuses to shoot the basketball to preserve his FG% after going 5/5 in the 1st quarter. Stops sucking in defensive attention as a result and Miami's not getting the best looks from outside.

Also, confused as to how he's recorded 4 TOs. I've only counted 2

Same. Seems like the statkeeper prefers to give Lebron the TO for not catching the pass, rather than give it to Wade for making the bad pass.

LeBron just finished his best shooting night of his career. 31 points, 13/14 FG, 93% TS!

Awesome game from Lebron. Hes pretty much transformed into a pf now its great hes cut down on the scoring and jumpshooting from the perimeter. Hes just complete now.
