Jeremy Lin

Post#1 » by AingesBurner » Tue Feb 5, 2013 6:18 pm

Apparently Jeremy Lin and Houston are unhappy with each other, would Jazz fans be interested in him? I was thinking a Jeremy Lin for Paul Millsap and GSW 1st. Jeremy is a traditional pass first PG, could actually make this team better, his game is a set half court traditional which fits Utah perfectly. Any thoughts???

I wouldn't give up a first for him, but he would obviously improve this team a lot . I've been thinking he might be a target of ours, idk how much we can stomach that third year salary he'll make though.

Lin is such an enigma. He's a rare player that he looks like garbage half the time playing as a role player. But when you make him the focal point of the offense, he looks amazing. So I'd only be down for a trade for Lin if the team committed Lin as being the main ball handler of the offense. If they just gave Lin the rock, and let him run loose in our system, I think he'd be fantastic. He is one of the few players that has that Stockton/Nash type skill-set. Obviously nowhere near the the caliber of those two, but he does have some similar traits.

I'll pass. He's an average pg that gets paid 15 million in the last year of his contract. I know people are desperate for a pg but don't go crazy.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Rox fan here. Lin won't make 15 mil in yr 3. It'll be a 8-8-9 kinda deal even tho he signed a 5-5-15. Morey did it that way so it'd be harder for Knicks to match.

Rockets would never do that deal. If they want Millsap, they will get him in free agency.

i agree as well. I am of the opinion that the rockets are the frontrunner to sign him this offseason. Utah's fan base is loyal and has a ton of love for Paul, but money talks. If Houston offers him more money, i don't see him saying no thanks to return to the court at Energy Solutions Arena.

Plus the Jazz wont make this deal either, Lin would be making more money than we pay mo williams, and i think mo williams is a similar if not more talented player. No way would the jazz sign lin for more than like 5-6 mil a year.

Lin would work great here, and of course we could use him. But for his price/performance I don't think he is in Jazz's future.

I know we got room for any free-agent. I think were better off trading them for draft picks, but I would prefer if we signed them all for 1 more year to see how it play out, because you don't become a championship team over night. OKC, Spurs, Jazz, Bulls etc...these teams were together for awhile before they had success. You just don't switch out over half your starters in the off-season and expect a playoff the next year, let alone a western finals or championship.

I personally wouldn't mind Lin over Mo. Jazz are in dire need of a Stockton/Dwill replacement.

I see this argument a lot, and I wonder how often it happens that a player gets traded mid-season and doesn't re-sign with his new team. It makes me think of the Deron Williams situation.

If the Jazz are going to trade Millsap to someone and the Rockets want him in the offseason, it seems their odds of him signing are vastly greater if they trade for him versus letting some other team acquire him.

I could be wrong. I may have to research the historical numbers on so-called lame duck trades.

What the hell is Lin doing this year to justify his name being dropped in the same sentence as Stockton, Deron or Nash?

He is a good player, but a pass first Pg like him in a Jazz Basketball system, with 4 other dudes who can score......I wouldn't hold it against him, and say its not possible.

On a HOU run and gun system with Harden, he is likely to do make a scene, like what Nash did in Phoenix. Still Jazz is the best system for great point guards.
