LOL yeah the draft is always legit and that's why stern's only "special" guest tends to win the #1 pick each year. remember the dead widow of the old bullets CEO? she wins john wall. remember the sick kid from cleveland? wins kyrie. neither drafts had no other "special" guests.

if we had held on to the pick and baron, we would have gotten stiffed and end up with a 10 or later pick. no way kyrie comes to us. maybe austin rivers and his single digit PER.

we are far far better off as is, as history had gone down. EJ is a bitch anyway, i can't believe i still have his jersey. AFA wouldn't help and his salary is higher than the guys here that are much bigger help, like barnes, turiaf, grant hill, etc.

Ignore the conspiracies about the lotto being fixed, and you still can not say Clippers would have won the #1 pick. Why? They were only two wins behind and ahead of the teams right around us. Baron, definitely, would have given us two more wins or losses. On top of it, you have to consider the Cavs playing the teams around us, and us playing those teams around us, as well.

Way too many variables to say Clips would have stayed at #8 to win the lotto (assuming that #8 won the lotto no matter what that year)

Kyrie is getting a lot of attention and rightfully so.. A healthy ej with kyrie of course. But that pick wasn't guaranteed.. Plus I love cp3. Like almost homosexually. I had season seats last year and it was then not on tv but real life I appreciated him and the way he manages the team. Gets everyone involved. Could score 30 a game but would rather dish. Kyrie will never be the leader/passer cp3 is. And kyrie has to show me he can stay healthy. Bad time to say it now cuz cp3 is hurt but kyrie broken foot, face, Hand.. Gets injured every year. Cp3 leads teams to the top. Kyrie gotta show some of that. He's like a more flashy/talented bosh. Bosh put up 24/12 but didn't really lead his team to much.

It's not a guarantee that we would have ended up with the 1st pick.

We were a .500 team with Mo Williams through his 22 games.
We were a .419 team with Baron Davis through his 43 games played.
We were a .214 team during the games that Baron Davis missed to injury while he was a Clipper.
Baron on played 15 games with the Cavs due to injuries and the death of his grandmother.

We finished with a 32-50 record which was the 8th worst record in the league.
If we assume that he still only plays 15 games and our winning percentage without him continues toward the trend, we win 2 games without him and 6 games with him. That would give us 3 less wins and an overall record of 29-53. Detroit finished with 30 wins and would receive the amount of lotto combinations that we received. In other words, had the trade not been made, the outcome would have likely been different and it would have been more probable that we would end up with the 8th pick in the draft as opposed to the 1st. Detroit ended up taking Brandon Knight with the 8th pick. In hindsight, I would love to have been able to add Klay Thompson.

If we're going to ignore all of that and assume that everything were to stay the same, it would still be a promising core. I don't think we'd be as good of a team right now due to youth and lack of veteran leadership. Paul and Billups have been largely responsible for getting veterans to sign here. With the injury troubles of some of those players, we'd be singing the old tune of "if we could ever get and stay healthy."

I don't like the fact that the pick (2.8% chance of winning) we traded away ended up being 1st and that 1st being Kyrie, but having Paul takes away from that sting

Dunleavy/Baylor passed on Danny Granger to draft Yaroslav freaking Korolev. We passed on Paul George (who most of us really wanted because of his potential and the fact that he grew up a Clipper fan) for the consensus pick at the the time, Al-Farouq Aminu. To look at it from the bright side, we likely would have had to move George in the Paul trade anyway.

At the end of the day, making some of those moves that seemed bad at the time and horrible in retrospect have put us where we are today. We were all pissed when we lost Elton Brand, but if he doesn't leave then we don't get Blake. If we don't get Blake, we don't get Paul and so on. Cleveland has a great foundation, as does New Orleans, and we have our best roster in franchise history. For that I'm thankful and I'm totally satisfied with how things turned out.

I was actually very upset when the CP3 trade went down, I thought we, as fans, had earned a properly rebuild and for once we had young players on their way to be stars, I wanted to enjoy Blake and EJ growing together until we could become contenders. I really wanted to enjoy every step of the proccess.

BUT look at us now. We are contenders, actual contenders recognized as such by everyone in the league. We, the Los Ángeles Clippers have a very real chance of walking away with the trophy. I still have to say it out load to believe it lol.

So, screw the what ifs, screw potential better situations, this is real and it's happening now, so yeah, I'd rather be where we are now than any imaginary scenario anyone can come up with

I'm a Blaker fan as in someone who fantasizes about Blake Griffin playing for the Lakers and adjusts stats accordingly, but I think a Irving/Griffin core would be a lot more fun to watch than a CP3/Griffin core, although I think the current core has been more successful than that one would be. Irving is a stud though, but he needs a superstar big to lead the Cavs anywhere.

With that in mind I always wanted the Clippers to use that blueprint and build from within. If trades would not have gone down we could have potentially had a team of
