SALT LAKE CITY (February 7, 2013) – The NBA announced today that Utah Jazz forward Jeremy Evans will defend his title in the 2013 Sprite Slam Dunk on February 16 at Toyota Center in Houston during NBA All-Star weekend. The Slam Dunk airs live on TNT at 6 p.m. MT as part of the State Farm All-Star Saturday Night.

“It is very exciting to have the opportunity to participate, not just for the first time, but to be able to go back for a second time,” said Jeremy Evans. “I want to top what I did last year and come out and try to win it again.”

His competition is way better this year. He better step it up big time and get innovative.

The East representatives are stacked...

Nice! He deserves a shot at defending his crown.

At the same time, he's gotta get creative. He needs to be better than last year...I'm really tired of all the dumb gimmick dunks that have infested the dunk contest for the past several years.

i liked the dunk contest better when it was star players rather than bench dwellers who never see the floor.

his first dunk should be jeremy at center court, with a projector, breaking down the film-clip of him just embarrassing ronny turiaf from the pre season game vs the clippers.

That'd be a lot better than last years dunk cam.

That is so funny, I watched the top 50 dunks, here and top dunk there, and they always said something like, let me see something I haven't see before....well Jason Richardson's dunk was definitely original, but what else is there??? After I watched Vince Carters game time dunk where does a barrel roll out of the dunk, I thought, wouldn't it be cool to see a barrel roll/flip dunk! Or even dunks with flips out of them....

I think Evans should do a Free Throw line jam with Dr. J's uniform on, a Statue of Liberty 360, or maybe a barrell roll over Hayward...

A barrel roll, would be like running, Hayward would be bent forward with his back up, and you jump and roll your back on top of his back....however you do the same motion without actually touching haywards body. This is as close to a flip as you will get....I don't think tramps are allowed.

Faried and Ross are power dunkers, White and Green are the favorites but they are more flashier. I think technical wins you trophies. Look at Carter, Richardson, Evans or even Jordan, they were all highly technical shots. I would bet on Ross to win, but I see Faried or Evans winning this. Evans just needs to prove he can fly.

I liked Evans' two ball dunk last year. That was actually an excellent dunk, the kind you require for a good dunk contest. But his others weren't as strong.

Hopefully he puts it all together with 3 excellent dunks this year.
In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.
