Drummond out for a few Weeks

Post#1 » by Sheeeeed » Fri Feb 8, 2013 11:25 pm

I saw this posted in the general board.

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA 1m
Detroit rookie center Andre Drummond will be sidelined for "a few weeks" with a bruised back, league source tells Y! Sports.

I hope this is just the cause of a bad landing and not a chronic long-term problem. Get well soon Dre.

Don't really have much of an incentive to watch Pistons games anymore...

Without Drummond there is no reason to watch the Pistons games anymore (for me)

poor Andre will miss the rookie allstar game :-? at least this is a chance for Slava to show he can be a decent backup center

anyway when he comes back the Pistons hopefully will be eliminated out of the playoff race and we can actually see what Monroe and Drummond can do on the floor for extended minutes, otherwise Frank should be fired.

@Keith_Langlois

Drummond story soon on http://Pistons.com . The good news: with a stress fracture, once it's healed it's healed. Not chronic, a la discs

This condition is classified as either a bone stress reaction or a stress fracture of the lower back. It is especially common in growing adolescents and symptoms are often related to the 'growth spurt'.

In most cases, complete rest is the treatment of choice. This would usually be for a period of 6 weeks, to allow the bone to heal. A Back Brace can be helpful to provide support and partial immobilisation. It also acts as a reminder to young people that they shouldn't do too much activity.

Fortunately it sounds like its not something that needs surgery or any kind of chronic problem. Just a common fracture that will heal on its own with 6 weeks of rest.

Just shut him down til he's fully healed, and get a look at Slava in the meantime. Unfortunate, but at 8.5 games out of the playoffs this team wasn't going anywhere. Maybe they bring in Big Ben now, and even if Drummond can't do any physical activity, he could soak up some defensive knowledge from Ben while he's resting.

What a shame. I'm glad they caught it now though and that it isn't anything too serious. Hopefully when he comes back we can see him and Monroe together for the last 2 months of the season. We should go into full tank mode at this point.

Helps our chances at McLemore so I guess that's the bright side.

Hopefully AD comes back strong and doesn't have anymore set backs.

Yeah, nothing too serious but makes sense to take every precaution. Make sure he's 100% before returning and hurting our lottery chances.

Alright, playoff dreams are long done and Bynum is not that important without Drummond. Time to trade Max, Bynum, and Stuckey and look towards the future.

Could be the worse defensive team in the association.... likely 5-7 pick range

Might as well shut him down for the season. We probably won't win many games with him out either. So we should start dropping big time in the standings.

Calderon in the back court with Monroe, Maxey and Singler up front - LoL.

We could be second last in the conference in six weeks time. We become Monroe and Kratvsov at center and Maxiell/Villnueva/Jerebko at the four? Bwahahahahahahahaha!

We have 20 games over the next six weeks - we're not winning five games.

Its time to just play run and gun and try and mask the toreador defense. Atleast it would be fun to watch. Let Calderon be Nash.

Yeah Dumars should look to tear this team down as much as possible without sacrificing capspace. Everyone should be shopped except Knight, Monroe, and Drummond. It would be nice to collect another 1st rounder or something. Maybe we could gather enough assets to trade up in the lottery if need be.

I hope your right. Hopefully Shabazz continues to be a bad teammate so he can fall to us in the draft :)

Ditto to pretty much everyone else's sentiments. Let him rest and let's see what Slava has got
