Bynum to OKC rumor at the game tonight
The big talk at the Pistons Spurs game (besides Drummond injury) was Bynum going to OKC for Toronto's first rnd pick in this years draft that OKC already owns. I was hearing it from multiple sources but I could not get any more details. Just some food for thought I guess. I think it would be great for both teams. I wish I had more info but I figured I'd post it any way.

Wow...if we somehow land that pick (Top 3 protected) for Will the thrill, I would be ecstatic. Raptors aren't making the playoffs and they're not getting a top 3 pick. That means we'd most likely end up with 2 picks in the 6-12 range...more than enough to move up/land a star.

Much as I would love that, I'm more inclined to believe it will be for OKC's own pick rather than Toronto's...

That would be an amazing return for an expiring player. I hope Joe D can pull that off, would make up for the pick we lost in the BG trade.

Re: Bynum to OKC rumor at the game tonight
The only way I could see us getting the TOR pick and not OKCs late 1st round pick, is if OKC decided they couldn't afford the cost of a high lotto pick.
idk the specifics of the new luxury tax, but lets just say if that rookie lotto pick was to make $5 mil/yr, maybe it ends up costing a contender who's over the cap $10 mil/yr, and perhaps OKC just can't afford to keep the pick.
That would be amazing. tbh, the way Bynum has played this year, it doesn;t even seem that unrealistic, for a contender to give up a high draft pick for him. He's been dominant against a lot of top teams this year. So from OKCs standpoint, who will have to face those top teams in the playoffs, who would they rather have, a rookie who can help them in a few yrs, or a super sub scorer who can help them in the playoffs and maybe win a championship with this year?

Yeah I feel the same way and I doubt there is any credence to this rumor, but when you think about it, Will Bynum is a somewhat rare commodity. He's been playing quality ball pretty consistently this season in limited minutes. Most players need more than what Will gets to get a rhythm. Will is the definition of a spark plug and would benefit the bench of any championship team. I still think he would do even better in New York, but they don't have the pieces to offer IMO.

Re: Bynum to OKC rumor at the game tonight
I would believe that Bynum for the pick would be the general framework of the deal, but I see other pieces having to change place for this to work. I can't remember if OKC has a TPE or not, if so, that might be the reason for the good deal. OKC could add a good bench guy in bynum without giving up a player. Or if Thunder believe that the draft is week and do not see anyone that really interests them at that high of a pick. Maybe they believe Toronto is going to be better after the Gay trade (and possible Boozer deal) and the pick is going to be a mid level pick (10-15?) and OKC has decided that it is not worth having two later picks in this draft. Like I said it was just a rumor but it was an active one. Usually I hear these types of things from one or two people and they die out after a quarter or two, this one I was hearing from several people (fans and employees) and it persisted all game. Just seemed to be different, so I thought I would give you guys something to talk about.

Trading Bynum would be nice but the problem is how do you fit it into cap wise to make a deal?

Well its not really farfetched at all, because Chris Sheridan said the other day to watch out for a potential Bynum to OKC trade. So maybe its a real possibility.
One thing is for sure, Bynum sounds like a valuable commodity right now around the league, and another good game tonight against another contender won't hurt that. So Dumars should have some trade leverage here. If he's got 2 contenders willing to give late 1st round picks, maybe he can coax OKC into giving up their TOR pick if they really want Bynum.

That would be amazing if Dumars pulled that off. I would be willing to throw in any of our other role players (Max, Singler) to get it done too. Going into this offseason with 2 good lottery picks and a boat load of capspace would give Dumars an opportunity to rebuild this team in one summer.

I think a lot of the talk has been spurred from Chris Sheridan on Twitter saying that Bynum would be a good pick-up for the Thunder, but he was only speculating. Would be awesome if it's true and we got the Raptors pick though.

Bynum for Maynor works on the ESPN trade machine...
and no OKC do not have a TPE they could use to acquire Bynum while just giving up their pick

Re: Bynum to OKC rumor at the game tonight
Just a heads up. Toronto traded their pick for Kyle Lowry. Lowry >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Bynumite
So as much as Bynum has been amazing this season and as much as he would really help OKC, Bynum for Maynor and Toronto pick seems a little bit too much.
Bynum for Maynor and OKC pick sounds very plausible tho.
Bynum for Reggie Jackson and Perry Jones also work,
even Bynum for Maynor Jones and OKC pick sounds more plausible than the Toronto pick.
If Toronto grab Boozer for Bargs I'm pretty sure they'll make the playoffs and probably get the 7th seed from Milwaukee and that pick would be the #15 or #16. ~the same spot we grabbed Stuckey and Daye recently.

...then we just traded Prince and Daye for a starting PG on an expiring contract.

Re: Bynum to OKC rumor at the game tonight
you guys are nuts, OKCs is not giving up Toronto's pick for a 4 month rental of Will freaking Bynum
Bynum for Maynor seems like a realistic trade, i like Maynor, he will be a restricted FA, give him a try as backup PG...they need every penny they got to resign Kevin Martin, maybe if we take on Perkins and his ugly contract they might include the Toronto pick, but i dont know if thats worth it...also simple rule: never deal with Sam Presti, i cant remember a single trade he has "lost" in the last few years, this guy is the best GM in the league for a good reason

Re: Bynum to OKC rumor at the game tonight
Maynor makes sense given he's a restricted FA, meaning if we decide to keep Calderon and see Knight as a PG also going forward we could let Maynor walk (same as Bynum leaving as a UFA) but if we decide Calderon isn't working here or Knight is a full time SG than we could keep Maynor for the year either backing up Knight at the point or backing up Calderon at the point.
NO WAY is it the Toronto pick, though the TO pick is lottery protected and they should otherwise end up in the 10-14 range even if they miss the play-offs. And in a weak draft that 10-14 is more like a 15-20, and Chase Budinger was traded for a mid first like that last draft. But OKC could get a much better player for the TO pick. If there is a pick involved it will be OKC's own.
Maybe something like Maynor and the OKC pick for Bynum and our second rounder. So we get Maynor and move up 10 spots and they get two players in return - expiring Bynum and a non-guaranteed second rounder pick.

If Presti is so smart why did he keep Westbrook and trade Harden?
but no, we're not getting a guaranteed lotto pick for Will Bynum, at this point id take OKCs 2nd rd pick for him and call it a day.
