Jose Calderon

Post#1 » by MoMan24 » Sat Feb 9, 2013 9:04 am

Hey I'm a Raptors fan and was always a Jose supporter and thought he was undervalued and underrated during his time with us. He outplayed Lowry this year and took his starting job, and has a great jump shot and a great play-maker. His defense is not so great but not as bad as some would like to suggest. Just wanted to know what you guys think of him so far, because we miss him.

So far he has 20 assists and 3 TOs, coming to a new team and a new system. He is 4 of 10 from downtown. He is 13 for 25 from the field. I don't think you can expect anything more than that from your PG. His numbers and his impact are impressive.

I would go beyond that, Greg Monroe numbers since Calderon started playing for us are 20,6/12/3. Knight is averaging 13.6 points 2.6 assists and 1 TO per game. so his AST increased to 2.6 when he had constantly more TOs than assists.

Granted this is a very small sample but we beat San Antonio and we should have beaten Brooklyn. Our team is playing much better, even without our best player.

His defense is far from great but he isn't a CV on the defense.

More important to me, I can watch Detroit without get stressed, without see Knight throw bricks at his teammates and either turn the ball over or cause turn overs. He can improve a lot playing next to Calderon.

He’s what i expected, great ast/to ratio, doesn’t take bad shots, can shoot the 3 well. Most importantly he gets ppl the ball where they want it, something our other PG’s struggle to do.

i've only watch the brooklyn game and even from that, it's a huge difference to have a capable PG on the team.
We haven't had a real PG for so long that i almost forgot what it's like.
I'm going to watch last nights game tonight and i'm sure i'll be impressed again. Offensively it's a huge upgrade for Detroit.
