An interesting tidbit about our salary

Post#1 » by LarsV8 » Thu Feb 7, 2013 9:57 pm

James Harden is our highest paid player this year at 5.8 million. Luis Scola is next. Asik and Lin are tied for third.

Our top four players cost ~16 million combined.

Our team is ridiculously well run.

Our Captain/beast towel waver paid what 700k to play here.

Our second best player, it guy, and soon to be co-face of the franchise(not sure but seems he is everywhere with anything to do with Rockets ball) also paid less 90% of the league..

That is pretty amazing. Such a well-run front office.

This is why I don't believe that there is any interest in Bynum.

I agree that the team is well run financially. However, it'd be more accurate to look at the average salary. Which is Harden $14.1M, Asik and Lin $8.4M.

Otherwise, in 2014-15, you would say that Asik and Lin are tied for first at $14.9M, Harden third at $14.7M. But that's taking it out of context of the whole picture.

Well in '14-16 Lin and Asik will be paid $14.9M...
But if they are still here, they will be tied for second to (insert top 10 player) that the Crook Morey will steal from another team.

We don't even know if Asik or Lin will be on the team in 14-15, so the average is not a good way to look at it.

In 3 months, the Rockets could be in the playoffs with a true payroll of under 50 million dollars. This is a team that beat another playoff team by 50 points on the road, and broke the NBA record for threes against another playoff team, and is the youngest team in the league. Oh yea, we haven't had a losing season in almost ten years, and unlikey to have another one until after the Harden era ends, which could be another 8+ years.

This franchise is probably the most well run in the league. 8-)

There's not one person who doesn't realize that.

At the moment, this team has a winning record with the lowest payroll. That's insane.

For a team like this future success factors into it, yes. If you've followed the conversation of this thread you've clearly seen that we are talking about cap management and payroll.

There've been extensive analyses of why we haven't had much playoff success that have spanned 5 years.
I'd say our lack of playoff success has been pretty justifiable and shouldn't figure into that title.

I personally think we're neck and neck with the Spurs, Heat (I actually think the Heat are a notch below us), and OKC, as far as management.

We haven't been the best managed for 10 years though. I can't stress enough that Dawson, while apparently a fine coach, was a terrible GM.
