Cavs need to rise to the top. These moves should be made

Post#1 » by Vlade12 » Sat Feb 9, 2013 11:27 pm

I'm an outsider and not a Cavs fan but I want nothing more then to see them become a force in the East again(Laker fan). I'm a huge fan of Kyrie Irving, and these moves should be made, a bit risky

First sign Greg Oden to that 3 year deal.

Trade Anderson Varejo for Derik Williams and Luke Ridnour(solid vet to mentor Kyrie)

This Draft target a SF: Glenn Robinson or Muhammed

For the sake of this mock offseason lets just say Glenn Robinson who's a sound shooter and has great skill at such a young age.

2013 Cavs
Oden Speights Zeller(in case of Oden injury)
Williams Thompson
Robinson Gee
Miles Waiters
Irving Ridnour

That team has talent, and all the potential in the world!

Can Robinson put the ball on the deck?

I actually agree in trading AV.....we need as much cap space in 2014 as possible

Can we trade Andy since he is injured and out for the rest of the season?

Pretty reasonable scenario btw.

It would probably have to be in the offseason -or at the deadline next year

Signing Oden is low risk high reward, you make this move.
I do believe we should trade Andy but we need to get good value. your trade is OK but I don't agree with your depth chart. T.T. would start & IMO we could already have our back-up PG in Shaun Livingston.
Robinson would be a welcome addition. IMO as long as we get a shooter at SG or SF.

Thank you for your encouraging idea. nice to see others starting to see what Cavs are doing.

Anyone who think Williams would be higher on the depth chart than Thompson probably shouldn't be posting on here. No way do the Cavs take Robinson unless they fall significantly in the lottery and I don't really want Ridnour.

Robinson can't create for himself and should really stay in college.

We need to draft someone like Noel, Len, or Otto Porter.

If we can't get defense, someone with length like Len would still help inside.

None of the moves you posted need to be made, I'm on the fence about Greg Oden and wouldn't mind him coming here, but I'm concerned with his ability to stay healthy. I'd give him very little guaranteed money.

Derrick Williams isn't good, flat out.

The draft priority should be: McLemore, Noel, Muhammed, Porter, Len, Bennett, Zeller

Robinson shouldn't be in the conversation unless the Lakers make the playoffs.

Nice idea and concept, but I don't like the AV for DW and Ridnour deal... Williams is just a tweener who really doesn't excel at anything in particular that this team is lacking... he's not a good defender, and wants to be a 3... we don't really need that, and AV brings more to the table as far as leadership goes than Ridnour brings, even if AV is a PF/C... he's a winning player, Ridnour has never been. The Oden move is something I'm definitely on board with, how could you NOT be? As far as the draft goes, I'd rather see someone like Otto Porter than GRIII (provided we'll be picking a bit later than top 5), and if possible draft Shabazz... I hope the future looks more like THIS heading into 2014 FA...

Irving/Livingston
Shabazz/Waiters
Gee/Miles/Casspi
Thompson/Speights
Oden/AV/Zeller... you add our 2014 1st and HOPE LBJ signs here, and we're talking about team that makes our 66 win team look pedestrian.

Irving/Shabazz/James/Thompson/Oden with Waiters,Livingston,Gee,Speights and AV off the bench= championship

a lot of "ifs" though

Again - who is the 2nd max we are targeting in 2014?

There isn't a second max player. They are building to add a SF in 2014. Whether it is James, Granger, Gay, Or Anthony, they want a plugin. They will target a lesser FA also, at Either SG or C, as they will only solve one of them between 2012-14 drafts. Look at a Marcin Gortat type Free Agent.

If they miss, they will look at a Cousins
