No trading Monroe!..We're just starting to see Monroe get confident in his mid-range, our Bullwinkle/Penguin front-court is about to be ridiculous...I would trade anyone outside of Knight, Monroe, and Drummond to get E.Gordon though...I think I'll pass on Mr. Smith, I'd rather go after Wilson Chandler...

I can't believe people want to trade Monroe for Gordon, but didn't want to trade Tay for Gay. The best I'd do is give em Magg ,Knight and JJ then tell them You're Welcome.

I think the Monroe/Stuckey for Gordon/Anderson would be a good trade for both teams if Gordon can stay healthy.

I like Monroe and think he can be a regular All Star center in this league. I just don't believe he's an All Star power forward or the best compliment to Drummond so you're not getting full value for him in Detroit. It won't feel like he's earning his contract when he gets that near max payday and he's getting killed defensively at the 4 while Drummond is eating up his boards.

A Knight/Gordon back-court really spaces the floor offensively and will be very good at containing slashers.

I think there are lesser talents than Monroe who'll be better fits next to Drummond. You need very specific skills next to Drummond...and of all Monroe's skills, the ones you need next to Drummond are his weaknesses.

On the other hand, a Davis/Monroe front court could be the best in the league in 2 years. Monroe/Davis compliment each other so much better than Monroe/Drummond. Monroe could stay at his natural 5 position. NO should be trying to offer up an aggressive package to get Monroe and Davis together.

Knight/Monroe/Stuckey (or Maxiell)/Maggette for Anderson/Gordon. It'd certainly be a good gamble, but from the standpoint of building around Drummond, the pieces they'd get back fit better than those they send out.

I was thinbking about something like that because i just don't see Monroe-Drummond working well

NOH trades
Gordon
Anderson
Lopez

DET trades
Monroe
Villanueva
Maggette
Knight

You gamble on Gordon regaining his form and staying healthy, get a perfect complimentary player for AD and also a stopgap starting C so you don't have to rush things with Drummond.

That ends the pipedreams about getting a max worthy FA in 2013 (will there even be any?) but could still re-sign Calderon to a frontloaded 20/3 and pursue a good FA if you waive Stuckey. Or you could just ride the season and see what you can get for that expiring next february or with the capspace in the summer of 2014.
You'd still have enough flexibility going forward.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.
