Andre and the "Last shot"

Post#1 » by Powder Blue » Mon Feb 11, 2013 4:00 am

This deserves its own thread. Andre isn't in the dog house....Karl would have killed JR for doing the exact same thing, Karl really has a double standard when it comes to coaching.

“The last shot on Andre, I think Andre wanted to win the game,” Karl said. “I know you can question that shot, but in a sense I kind of liked it. I like to have a guy on my team that has the guts to take that shot.”

Miller was 7-of-17 in the game to that point, and had made just one of the three treys he hoisted up. He danced around the last shot attempt.

“I think both teams wanted to go home,” Miller said. “I thought about fouling Paul Pierce on that three (in the second overtime), make him earn two free throws and then we would still be up by one with maybe four or five seconds."

Look the time remaining, and the players who are in the rebounding zone

Pierce shoots very comfortable.
I can't understand if you don't want to fouled him, why Gallo can't defended him?.
Someone doubt with Gallo's hand in the top, Pierce could shoot too easy?

lmfao at a career 20% three point shooter walking into a contested 3 with 8 seconds left in a 2 point game with nobody inside to rebound and a full shot clock. and the coach 'king of liking it'

dumbest thing i've seen/heard in a long time.

If it went in would you still have started this thread? I would hope so because even though Andre is the vet it was a bad decision that was then supported by the head coach... who is the guy that is supposed to prevent this stupid crap in the first place. Hopefully he stood by Miller in the press... but behind closed doors they took care of it.

This really comes down to Karl's crediility as a head coach at this point. Andre is unhappy about not starting (PT time) so right now he's soothing the ego. The problem is this isn't Shawn Kemp or GP.
We cant do this dumbt **** and make the final.s

Honestly, I think we'd be just as angry even if anyone else on the team takes that shot. It could have been Gallinari or Lawson who takes it, and it's still a terrible shot.

Then you consider that Miller is supposed to be our level headed veteran who doesn't make mistakes in crunch time. Then you consider that he's literally never made been able to make that shot in his 14-year career. Then you consider how he hogged the ball and turned it over on the possession directly before that. Then you consider the comments he made about not getting enough playing time last week. And on top of all this, our head coach doesn't have the balls to do anything about it and is even backing him up in the media.

I can't remember the last time I was this angry about a loss, so you have to wonder how the locker room felt. I've always defended Andre on this board, but that was just inexcusable.

don't have much of a problem with gallo taking that shot, cause we've all seen him hit like 5+ of those this season in clutch situations.

but dre? inexcusable.

I think if Gallo had taken it he would have been more open due to his length... and obviously he had a chance to make it. But it still is a bad shot attempt with no rebounders. Regardless it illustrates a problem the Nuggets have... the fact that a poor shooter did it makes it even worse yes.
