Right. They think ATL's going to take on Hump's contract for Josh Smith? LOL

A 12 million dollar expiring for next season isn't bad at all.

I don't like this trade because we're essentially trading for an average PF who isn't going to help us win any more games and he can't even get ahead of Reggie Evans(lmfao) in the rotation or Blatche for that matter.

Only upside i see in this trade is Hump's contract is shorter than BG's. That's it.

And as it isn't shorter....

In my opinion, it's a trade worth looking on. A servicable big man is always more of a value. Any team can find shooters relatively cheaply.
I like Gordon and what he brings to the team, I was a fan of the Maggette-Gordon+1st rounder trade, but I would do it any time. Next year the FO could trade Humphs too, if they give him the 30+ minutes and he provides we can actually come out in 2 years as Maggette for filler + 2 1st rounders for example. And it would be huge :)

ATL has a ton of cap space this summer, I doubt they jeopardize that for Hump.

Speaking of Blatche, if we add Humphries now then he kind of blocks any PF target in the off season. The Nets can't afford Blatche anyways and will lose him to free agency for sure but we can.

I'd rather have Blatche here but there are no guarantees he would sign with us. There are no guarantees any big signs here, thus the move for Humphries.

I'm not sure how the Nets match salaries without Hump in a Josh Smith trade.

Blatche is a guy who seems to really enjoy playing for a semicontender and at least playoff team. Why would he want to come here? Even if he did I bet he would revert to his old ways.

Blatche isn't a glamorous free agent attraction for a big market team though. He might be one of those players you can entice with a higher bid and still sign at a bargain price considering his potential value. Hickson will be overpriced like most bigs. But we'll see...

:o :o :o :-? :( I believe there is a way to do a 3way trade where Atl/Char/Brooklyn get what they want?)

Atl sends JSMITH to BKN who sends Hump to us for Gordon.Nets get both Josh Smith and Gordon. Bobcats get Humphries . The Russian Billionaire buys his way into NBA Eastern Conference Championship.
We send Diop's expiring,RWill's expiring, Mullins, and Portlands 12-14th pick to Atlanta. Hawks pick up young Center they want, another 2013 pick and allot of cap space.

^

If we're giving up all of our expirings, Mullens AND a late lottery pick, we should be able to do a hell of alot better than Kris Humphries.

The Cats are not interested in Blatche. We could have exchanged Tyrus for him last year, but Cho was not interested.
