OT: Aaron Hill signs for 3yr/$35m

Hard to imagine he was so mediocre here at the end, in a hitters park, and goes out at bats .302 with 26 homers for the D Bags.

His swing looked a hell of a lot more balanced last year, from what I saw; looked a bit more like the swing he broke into the league with, he wasn't shifting his weight on to his back foot hyper-aggressively and trying to launch the ball as he did in his later years with the Jays. Managers in baseball don't tend to make much difference, but hitting coaches can, and Hill may have been a beneficiary in that regard.

Probably won't hit that many home runs o'er the next three years, but a line in the .280/.340/.460 range with good defense would be more than enough to justify that kinda scratch. Good for Hill.

Too bad we couldn't have straightened him out. He'd fit in nice as our 2B about now.

classic case where a change of scenery makes all the difference. we need some guys to have breakout years to make up for that loss in production...

He'd be nice right now, but whatever.

Good for him

Can't cry about spilled milk on this one. He needed to be moved, it was inevitable after his tremendous decline here. Lind should've shared the same fate, look how that turned out. Irregardless of if some time in the minors and a new batting coach would have helped - AA wanted to take a gamble on KJ and that didn't end up panning out.

Water under the bridge at this point.

Hill was my favourite Jay when he was here. I was disappointed during his struggles, and kept hoping he'd turn it around. Glad to see him regain his play.

I'll pat myself on the back for one of the very few who were defending him at the time of the trade

The guy was an incredible black hole at the plate for a year and a half and looked nothing like the hitter that he does right now (in terms of approach or results). Not too sure what there was to defend.

Agreed. There is nothing to point towards a recovery at the time of the trade. If you saw something Alex and his paid staff that spend countless hours evaluating players didn't, then sure, pat yourself on the back.

An incredible black hole that many failed to realize a fresh start may actually do someone good. That's what many of you had completely written off.

Maybe Colby needs a fresh start too. So does Kelly.

It's not like we could of given him a fresh start with us.

Hill has been up and down his entire career. Not sure why, his swing always looked solid in a Paul Molitor sort of way. I'm not sure if he got it all figured out or we should expect him to lay another egg or 2 during his 3 year extension?

Wow, he had a hell of a season last year. Good for him.
