Well he will hit FA, and will take in offers. I think Jazz have the option to match these offers, which is much higher than he could offer right now under current NBA rules, on Max Contract. He is probably going to make 10+ million next year, especially if he goes to the highest bidder.
I can see us trading him for something that we need, cause we don't exactly need Millsap anymore. Especially if all we do is let him walk away and use his space, which isn't profitable at all.
I think Jazz wanted to wait one more year before breaking the starters up(AL and Paul). But if I were in charge, I would trade Millsap and my 1st round pick for a better 1st round pick. There are a couple good candidates in this draft. I mean this is way better than trading him for some other "non-championship" caliber player on this team. In the draft we have a shot at getting the next "lillard", or getting a Non-Jimmer Jimmer.

Milsap will be an unrestricted FA. He will go with the offer.

Re: Paul Millsap
I happen to be a personal fan of Millsap but the more I watch... and the more I think about the current CBA... the front office should do everything they can to find a good deal for Millsap.
What I strongly suggest is Millsap & Marvin Williams Jr for Jackson, Blair, De Colo, Joseph, and the rights to Lorbek. Millsap is a real catch for a team on its last legs looking for a championship. Marvin is also an upgrade over Jackson.
De Colo would be another PG you can put in the running for next years starting job. Joseph is a guy who can compete for minutes. Blair is an option to re-sgined and Lorbek is another chip.
If Jefferson is brought back... you have the potential to ink Blair... you have Favors on the roster... and you have the rights to Tomic & Lorbek.
That could turn Kanter into something you could dangle to help improve the team. Food 4 thought.

I think keeping Millsap is a reasonable move for the Jazz, unless he gets a pretty crazy near max level contract offer. Clearly at least one of Sap and Al Jeff has to go. But losing both probably isn't the best idea. Sap compliments Favors and Kanter very well, and keeps our frontcourt very strong and deep.
I have no idea what will happen of course, but it seems at least possible that we hold on to sap.

Re: Paul Millsap
I think Millsap deserves $10M, but giving the idiocy of the owners, he get more. I hope we resign him at $8M, at $10M+, let him go, we're going to need the money for our 4 core guys (Kanter, Favors, Hayward, and Burks). Either way, a tough pill to swallow, losing Al or Millsap, on some nights, their weaknesses are glaring but on most nights they look like an All-Star reserve.

Re: Paul Millsap
I absolutely love paul millsap, but if i out my gm cap on, i think they gotta trade him or let him walk. he will want to much money for what he really is, and that is an undersized 4. Im of the not so popular opinion that the jazz should put all efforts into resigning Al jefferson in the off-season. His style of play is a perfect fit for utah, as he can get a clean look at the basket at almost any time. Millsap struggles in crunch time one on one possessions, and despite a knack for hitting big threes, he is not much good on the offensive end in late game situations. Al is a superior player. In an ideal world, you trade him for a decent point guard and/or some draft picks, resign Al, and let Favors take over as the starting 4 with kanter as the backup 5.

This just doesn't resonate with me. Al's style of play runs contrary to two decades of Jazz basketball that was based on screens, cuts, ball movement and timely passing.
