Marshall to Utah PLEASE

Post#1 » by HolyToledo12 » Wed Feb 13, 2013 6:32 am

I have really liked what have seen of Marshall of the Suns. A pass first PG that is hitting is open shots. To get him, the Jazz would have to take on a large contract or trade away Burks, and rather keep Burks. Are you willing to take on Gortat or Beasily to get Marshall?

Suggested trade Gortat, Marshall, and Frye for Big AL, Bell, and GSW pick (allows Suns to make huge contract offer to either Big Al or even Dwight Howard). Maybe Suns even trade in the off season for big contract like Eric Gordon who they like a lot. Jazz can release Frye maybe even having that contract paid by insurance.

PG Mo Williams (1 year deal 2014) Marshall (Jazz #1 pick 2013)
SG Foye ( 3 year deal thru 2016) Burks
C Gortat (2014) Kanter
PF Favors (Millsap 3 yr deal/24 Mil) Marin W. Evans
SF Hayward Marvin W. (2014)

Basically, setting the team for their run 2014-2015 season and 2015-2016 season.
Play with the Pass, Play with a Purpose, and Play with Pace along with Obvious Unselfishness....Coach Snyder says the sky is purple than Jazz players say nice purple sky! LONG LIVE THE MAD SCIENTIST!!!!

Millsap wont sit the bench and he wants more than 8 million, Kanter is better than Gortat. Dont see the point of Jazz sending a first. I am startiing to think Burks is the PGOTF, he runs the P and R like a stud. I would rather trade Millsap for some picks, young studs, etc.

ugh, not ANOTHER one...

no, i don't think the jazz should take on big contracts for an athletically challenged PG who can barely crack the rotation in phoenix. and saying that he is hitting open shots (41% is not high) with that small of a sample size... i don't know. it's like saying earl watson can hit open shots. the guy in not an offensive threat. he is not what the jazz needs.

he's not worth the investment in terms of the contracts the jazz will have to take or the assets the jazz will have to give. it is much more worthwhile to just get a PG in this coming draft. if that doesn't work - we can talk then.

also, millsap just refused a 3 year 24M offer, so there is no use of including him in the depth chart on that amount. especially not as a backup since he refuses to be a bench player, which is probably one of the main reasons he turned the jazz down.

Another believer!!!! Indigo just give in now, its gonna keep happening. Marshall mania is on the horizon.

With that said, I don't like this deal and this is certainly not something the FO would consider. This deal makes us worst this year and all indication is that the Jazz are strongly interested at bringing Jefferson back. But we have alot of other assets that we could swap for Marshall, shouldn't be too hard at the moment.

I really liked Marshall in college, but he has yet to prove he's even backup material in the NBA. I'm not saying he can't, because you never know, but right now Burks shows a hell of a lot more potential and the Jazz would be insane to give up on that. If Favors and Kanter never develop offensively and Hayward doesn't become consistent, Burks could be the savior of this team. Dramatic, I know. But true.

I think that Burks will be better than Hayward if he gets the time deserved. I think Kanter willl be more offensively polished than Favors but Favors will be a defensive beast. I see Kanter having Jefferson's offensive polish but with more athleticism and a lot better defensive game.

I dont think burks will be better than hawayward, if he deserved the time, he would have it. hes getting minutes becasue marvin is completely anemic on offense and gordon has a hurt shoulder. hes been good. Gordon is a much better player. better defensively, more reliable passer and scorer. Burks is a fine player, and I cant wait for him to get better, but he will be the kind of guy who makes plays cutting to the basket of picks, slashing, and moving. he could average 16 a game, while gordon has the potential to be a 20 pts a night guy. I dont see that from burks, at least not yet.

Now if he turns out as good as you think, (i hope you are right) and the jazz find a way to extend him and gordon and favors, imagine how good those teams could be.

Are you familiar with the apparent coaching philosophy of Ty Corbin?

This is a man who played Raja Bell 30 minutes a game in 2010-11 and 24 minutes a game last year (before the Raja/Ty blow-up) despite him clearly being the worst shooting guard in the league getting significant minutes.

who did he have to play behind raja? (name the players and we will see if they deserved to be on court rather than bell) you also have to consider ty's decision to completely stop playing raja period last year. and the people playing in front of burks are marvin (MUCH superior defender, gordon a better player, earl and jamaal, and he splits time with demarre, who is a better defender makes the hustle plays. The reason for earl and jamaal is that they are both super experienced veterans who have handled the pg position for a combined 403 seasons or something like that. Burks isnt ready to handle the full time pg position yet, he needs to learn the position seeing that he was 2 or 3 in college. He played well last night from the 2 position.

Ty gets too much flack for holding back young players. I seem to remember deron williams riding an ass load of pine until his 3rd season under sloan...

My personal opinion is that Burks should be starting PG, Corbin needs to giive him the keys to the car and see whhat happens. Like my Dad told me, "Ill give you enough rope until you hang yourself." Same thing needs to be done with Burks, his P and R is starting to get sweet. Burks would be one of the tallest, athletic PG's in the league.

Well sure Gordon is a better all around player than Burks right now, but he's had more time in the league and consistent minutes (although not enough of them).

I think you're undervaluing Burks scoring potential, though. The way he gets to the line is rare and extremely valuable. He also has the killer instinct Hayward has yet to show consistently (though he was doing better). Burks is absolutely fearless and relentless, and combined with his natural ability I really don't know what would stop him from becoming a really good player in the league and a top scorer on the team.

Marshall has not shown anything I think.

His scouting report on nbadraft said he was a Jason Kidd type PG who was pass first and special. Wrong. He is not special.....no great play yet, right?

Honestly I think Burks could be like a Kobe, he just has that intensity and drive. His shot is getting smoother and he's a complete stud. I think Burks could be like Kobe and Hayward like Magic Johnson. You have them and Favors and Kanter, this team is ridiculous.

Line up should look like:

Burks/Tinsley
Foye/Rookie
Carrol/Hayward
Favors/Willaims
Jefferson (if he stays) or Kanter/FA (maybe Dalambert or Mosgov)
Ingles is cooked.

i don't want you to vomit on your desk at work. no jennings please. now he demands a trade because he wants to play in a bigger market. he doesn't fit here in any capacity.

As said many times I see Hayward as Mike Miller and Burks as Mitch Richmond. I think Burks has that potential to reach multiple allstar apperances and be a legit starter in this league ala Richmond where hayward is more of a sixthman/fringe starter.

With that said Burks is not ready yet a important role and major minutes on a playoff team under normal circumstances. Last night was a clear indication. Even though he did some good stuff and scored 13 pts on 54% shooting and 5 rbs but he negated all that with some really bad decisions which include 6 turnovers and 4 fouls, 2 missed free throws (his only free throws), and gave up too many points. He needs alot more seasoning but these aren't normal circumstances for a playoff team. Injuries and Watson being complete crap is allowing burks to work his way too more minutes.

P.S. Marshall Mania is coming, you can't stop it. Resist all you want, it will take you over.
