The Best of Rudy Gay: You Are Appreciated

Post#1 » by SD2042 » Thu Jan 31, 2013 12:27 am

This thread will be designated to best of Rudy Gay and his best moments as a Grizzly. Through the good times and bad times, RG22 was through and through from his debut to his last game vs. Philly where he put up 27pts 6rebs, and 5dimes. Now that he's a Raptor now, the only things left to say is thanks to Rudy for being a Memphis Grizzly and best of luck in your endeavors in Toronto.

I'lI always love that game-winner against Toronto. "NOOO.... that's RUDY GAY". "**** Rudy Gay man."

When I first heard Toronto was pursuing him hard, I thought, "I bet that youtube video is the reason."

Can't actually believe he isn't a Grizzly anymore. Hope he gets a standing O when he comes home.

whether he gets a standing O when he comes back to FEF will depend largely on what he says between now and then about his time here in MEM. If he lets on that he just signed here for the $, then, well, he'll get rained on. If he says only "hey, i was there, and it was great, but now I'm here", well...who knows.

I bet he gets a mix of cheer and jeer no matter what he says.

I ain't tellin' what I'll do 8)

Those boos for Gay will be lost in a sea of chants from 20,000 plus extremely happy fans. Rudy Rudy Rudy!

Wouldn't that be something.

Raptors will have to move DeRozan and Bargnani I think though. DD is even more inefficient than Rudy, and, like Bargnani, is overpaid.

If they somehow could move that pair for someone like Paul Millsap and a more role-playing SG, I think they'd have a shot. Valanciunas and Amir are really good defensive/hustle big men, and Val has potential on offense. Lowry is a bulldog at PG, and we all know what Rudy brings. Terrence Ross could become a good sixth-man.

For this year, I think they'll play a good spoiler. If they manage to sneak into the playoffs, they'll be one of those teams no one wants to play. They're big and physical, play good defense, and they have Rudy playing clutch basketball.

Teams might not necessarily be afraid of them, but the last thing a finals-favorite wants to do is get into a seven-game slugfest in the first round. It shows up in the 2nd round, like it did for the Clippers last year.

Derozan has a 44FG%.

I wouldn't be too concerned on his poor shooting. 44% is actually pretty decent if you watch some Raptors games earlier this season he takes jumpers all the time.... way too much. He's kinda like Pau Gasol was for us at times - very talented - but can't get it done on his own. He needs someone around like Rudy at this point in his career to free things up so he can attack the basket and play his game and make a better shot selection. He's hit the lottery with Rudy gay on his team. Don't get caught up on his shooting percentage is what I'm saying - that's not his strength.

Didn't I see DeRozan pull the ball down rather than attempt a buzzer beater when the Raps played us? Seems like he cherishes that 44%

Rudy Gay is one of the most over-rated and overpaid players in the league. He will not be missed by more statistically savy Griz fans. By the way the Raptors have probably been worse with Rudy. Small Forwards that shoot 45% from the field, get to the line at a mediocre clip, and cant create for others have limited value. On top of that all he was in the midst of his worst season. But he averages 18ppg am I rite?

I felt so bad for him watching those Lakers Raptors highlights. Kobe hits miracle shot after miracle shot to win it and Rudy just dribbles and shoots up blanks.

He hasn't been the same player since the shoulder injury. It seems to have affected his jumpshot
