This is not directed at the OP, but more towards the spoiled superstar comment and the various other remarks such as that, that you see on the GB/Laker Board by Laker fans. It's time to give it up...the guy earned his ring, is playing historically great, and I expect better than Laker fans, who I consider knowledgable fans. Everytime I see someone pull the "But But Kobe has more rings" card, or "But But Lebron doesn't have a post game" card I cringe. Those people sound just as annoying as the crowd who would repeatedly say "Kobe can't win without Shaq".

Anyways, you can't compare the two situations. First of all, this is a different league today than it was in the early 2000's. In the early 2000's, your superstars, or atleast elite top tier players were Kobe, Shaq, Duncan, KG, Iverson, Carter, Mcgrady, etc. As you can see, each one of these players had their own team, other than Kobe and Shaq. Thus, that argument actually made sense. In today's league, you have Kobe/Dwight on the same team, Wade/Lebron on the same team, Durant/Westbrook on the same team, CP3 and Melo each have another allstar on their team with loads of other talent, and so on. Basically, Lebron's competition for the MVP also have an elite supporting cast. Tony Parker I guess doesn't have another superstar playing with him, but one could argue that he isn't exactly a superstar himself, as great as he has been, and the Spurs are winning with great coaching and team work. My point being, If Lebron can't be MVP because he has Wade, can Durant be MVP despite having Westbrook, who may be just as good as Wade, if not in the same tier as him.

Magic fan here. Good post. Lebron is the best player on the planet. I could not stand this guy when he went to Miami however he has earned my respect. He does it the right way and he makes his team mates better. The man is almost unstoppable as he no longer settles for bad shots. Plus he is a good citizen and steward. Enjoy his greatness as these kind of players are very rare indeed.

Interestingly, Harden just passed Bryant on the shooting guard list and is top 5 overall.

James Harden is not better than Kobe, is this a joke? how is Bosh 30?

Those rankings are based on efficiency formula:
((Points + Rebounds + Assists + Steals + Blocks) - ((Field Goals Att. - Field Goals Made) + (Free Throws Att. - Free Throws Made) + Turnovers)).

It is generally accurate, however stats like this don't take into consideration intangibles, coaching system, ect... Harden being the #1 option on a team with no other "superstar" and being the primary ball handler other than Lin are factors giving him the edge on Kobe.

It would criminal, to say the least, if Lebron doesnt win MVP this year.
Just like how he was robbed by Rose. If anything, Dwight should have won it that year.

Miami is playing in the weakest division in the NBA by far (3 teams with 12, 15 and 15 wins????), while OKC is playing in the strongest division, also by far. Miami is playing in worse of the two conferences as well. Still, OKC has a better score, a lot better score.

Also, Durant is the best 4th quarter player in the NBA, but he is benched in 4th quarters a lot this season (f.e. 3 times last week), because OKC is dominating, so that is where his stats suffer, while Miami is playing a lot of tight games which puts Lebron on the court all the time.

So, Durant is the MVP if you ask me.

I hope that HGH testing will be fair, so that Lebron doesn't have that advantage over Durant. That is not in the interest of the NBA tho, so I don't really see it happening.
