Indians To Sign Michael Bourn (4 yrs, $48 mill)

Post#1 » by Ado05 » Tue Feb 12, 2013 3:18 am

Michael Bourn has agreed to a four-year, $48MM deal with the Indians, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. The contract contains a $12MM vesting option for a fifth year (Twitter links). The option vests if Bourn reaches 550 plate appearances in the final season of his contract, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports (on Twitter). Bourn is represented by Scott Boras.

Good move for the Indians. They sure needed a leadoff guy and they got a very good one.

I was surprised by the move, but the Indians look half decent now. And, with Tito as manager there, they might have something to say in that AL Central race.

He is much better than BJ Upton. Great deal for the Indians.

Good thing for Swisher that he signed before his deal.

He got 4 years 56 million.

This is by far the best offseason the Indians have ever had, and there is a ton of offensive potential, but I am so scared of the pitching rotation. If we can get to the 7th inning with a lead the back end of our bullpen is lights out, but it will be a dicey run getting there. Still, this is the most excited Cleveland fans have been about the Indians in years and years. #RollTribe!

I think it would be in the Cardinals' best interest to try and get him back.

It would be in your best interest to aware yourself on the awesomeness that the Cardinals currently possess.

You don't think they'd want a little more insurance after losing Carpenter again?

Even if Jaime was for sure out too the Cardinals wouldn't need Lohse back. Have you seen the power arms the Cardinals have? When you have Joe Kelly, Shelby Miller, and Trevor Rosenthal fighting for your 5th starter spot you are in a good position as an organization and it is exciting as hell as a fan of that team. Not to mention Carlos Martinez and Michael Wacha who will likely spend most of the season in Triple-A. Then Tyler Lyons was quite good in Triple-A already and Cleto also has a huge arm, although he is a reliever.

I don't pay much attention to the Cardinals' system. Sorry for naïveté.

Im a little puzzled why Bourn would take this.

BJ Upton got more, Swisher got more and you could argue that Bourn is better then them.

Great deal for the Indians.

He took it because it was the best offer he got. Unless you wanted him to sit out to start the season and hope some team would cave into his demands.

Great deal for the Indians.

because who would have given into those crappy demands?...srsly...who?...at the end of the season the market was prime for him to get top dollar...and just like that it dried up...any team that needed a CF fixed the problem.
the best defensive CF who Ks a lot and hits his way onto base.

the indians had Stubbs...not bad in CF...so they were playing with house money...I'm willing to bet they were bidding against themselves.

but tbh.
the Yankees should have went after Michael Bourn...smh at putting Granderson back out there just because he hits HRs.
