It is only a rumor that Phx has interest in him. It also says that they have interest in Hayward but I doubt that he is moved.

Re: Al Jefferson to Phoenix?
I don't know about the legitimity of this rumor, as I'm not really sure why the Suns would make a big trade right now, when they should be looking to tank...
As for the names popping up, Dudley is a good player on a very reasonable contract so I wouldn't mind him at all, but obviously the Jazz should be looking for more. I don't believe Gortat would an option for the Jazz, he doesn't make sens. I have to think that Utah would go after one of their PGs... Dragic+Dudley for Big Al is a decent base for a deal I guess.
Also, there's no way Hayward gets involved in such a trade but that should be obvious.

Gortat is a decent C, but he need a good pg who feed him.
Dudley is a nice player too... but we don't need more wing players with Gordan, Marvin, Randy, Burks and Demarre.

Re: Al Jefferson to Phoenix?
I stress in the Nuggets forum that we don't have that guy who can just get his shot (like Dirk, Kobe, PP, etc) and that hurts us in the playoffs and as games slow down.
When the Jazz lose Jefferson their guy that can get his goes away and that will have a noticable impact on the ball club next year. The question going forward is who can fill that role on the offensive end?
Haywood, Favors, and Kanter to a lesser degree are nice prospects but haven't shown the capacity to be the guy. We are talking about a rookie PG... Smart, Burke... a jackrabbit, etc.
Jerry Sloan isn't around to coach these guys up either. We are talking about some potentially challenging years ahead.

Re: Al Jefferson to Phoenix?
Like the rumoured San Antonio trade with Splitter going to Utah, it would make sense to move Gortat to Portland for Wes Matthews whom one would assume would still be a great fit on the Jazz.

Re: Al Jefferson to Phoenix?
If you did a Gortat and Dudley for Jefferson, the Jazz save $3.5 mill this season against the salary cap and take Gortat's $7.7 mill next year and Dudley's $4.25 mill for the next 3 years. Phoenix gets to rebuild quicker by eliminating a couple long term deals and gets the option to sign Jefferson. The Jazz could also send Bell and someone like Murphy or other filler and the Suns add one of their guards they do not plan on keeping (Telfair for example?) who is also expiring. That way the Jazz save a more like $5 mill this season and have more assets to work with.
Interesting thought.....

Re: Al Jefferson to Phoenix?
It sounds like a salary dump.
My guess is: Phoenix are trying to trade bad contracts (Frye, Beasley....) and add their 2013 1st pick for an expiring (Big Al).

This is BS and doesn't make any sense for either team. Not happening.
BTW even tho Ric Bucher has been the king of BS over the years, he has reported that other GM's are getting the feeling the Jazz will likely keep Jefferson and let MIllsap go.
According to Ric Bucher:
I do find it funny that he didn't mention that Favors is up for an extension as well, or mabey that was by design.

According to Ric Bucher:
Latest word on Utah Jazz and who they'll keep vs. deal between Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap: Jefferson is the likeliest to stay right now, according to several opposing team executives. Consensus is the Jazz can't afford to keep both with Gordon Hayward soon to be eligible for an extension and the belief that Hayward is in the team's long-term plans.

I really don't see the Jazz letting Jefferson go quite yet. Our team becomes significantly worse without his scoring - it's a simple fact. As much as I don't see Jefferson leading us to contention, the Jazz will try and stay as good a team as possible. Kanter isn't ready to start, anyway, at least if you're looking at it from the FO's point of view.
That said, if it were me I would seriously try and get Phoenix's first round pick, which is right in Marcus Smart territory. Doesn't seem like a likely scenario.

Keep in mind that all this is coming from different sources all around the league so it is not likely they would all be in sync. And I doubt it is coming out of Utah since they are so notoriously tight-lipped.

Re: Al Jefferson to Phoenix?
Suns would only be doing this deal to clear further cap room to sign Dwight Howard or some other Big Name free agent in the off season (maybe even Big Al and Millsap). Jazz get a nice shooter in Dudley and Gortat for a year. Its an ok deal but I would only if Marshall is included to which the Jazz would have to throw them a #1 pick.
Play with the Pass, Play with a Purpose, and Play with Pace along with Obvious Unselfishness....Coach Snyder says the sky is purple than Jazz players say nice purple sky! LONG LIVE THE MAD SCIENTIST!!!!

Re: Al Jefferson to Phoenix?
I'm not sure what the purpose for Phoenix's interest is--but if it is to dump non-expiring contracts in Gortat and Dudley, it still works with Millsap and Bell in exchange.

It isn't a salary dump. Gortat and Dudley aren't players you simply trade for an expirings to move their contracts.

exactly why this trade is pure BS. Both of them are easily tradeable and you can get some nice goodies for both of them instead of a vet that will likely leave that crappy team come the off-season. They need more assets, not more cap room because they'll have enough of that.
As for hayward, his price is likely way more than he's worth. Their better off keeping whatever assets they have then pursuing him right now.

I wouldn't mind getting Dragic, but he is Suns new Nash...He is their centerpiece.
Phoenix aren't a bad team, they just are unlucky and not good enough this year to compete. I mean look at Minn, on paper in Oct, I put them at #2 in NW and Lakers in top 4, and right now Phoenix is beating Lakers(who are the new Suns with Nash and Dantoni, which still sounds crazy to me).

I'm all about Goran Dragic, but I wouldn't give up Hayward to get him, and I'm not sure what else we could realistically part with, asset-wise, that would appeal to them.

I think we end up keeping Al. I do think we trade Millsap, potentially to the Nets if they don't get Smoove.
