Looks like Dallas is interested in Brandon Jennings. If you're Milwaukee are you interested in any of the Mav's merchandise? They have the 11th pick in the draft but Jennings probably propels them past at least a couple more teams. If you're the Bucks you would probably fall out of the 8th spot in the East. I don't think a package centered on a 2013 mid first round draft pick is sufficient for Jennings. If you're going to pull the trigger on a rebuild you need to get a lot more for your key trade piece. I think the Mavs are dreaming.

Yet they still pulled it out. This Lakers team isn't very good but I just can't bet against them making the playoffs.

lakers are definitely making the playoffs. no way portland keeps it up. too thin. they have been lucky to have that starting 5 together for pretty much every game. one of those starters will get a knock and miss a few weeks and when that happens they will got on a skid.

(edit - blazers are in 9th, well, jazz will fall in that case)

I can see the Jazz holding on, depends on if they trade one of their expiring bigs at the deadline though. But what's better? Lakers not making it and having some ping pong balls? Or getting swept in the first round?

Blazers can be 10th in the west and still give up the pick, but no lower. They've just gotta stay ahead of the non-playoff teams in the east.

You mean PHX having some more ping pong balls? Lakers don't get a pick either way.

They need to make it to at least the 1st round or there will be fallout in the offseason.

Forgot about that. Regardless I'd probably prefer they get swept.

I don't know. I think it depends on how they value an inefficient, average, small, and whiny point guard who's about to get paid. He is what he is, and that's just average. Still better than Collison though. I like Dallas, I'd like to see one more playoff appearance while Dirk is still around (doesn't seem to be much longer unfortunately). Plus, anything to push the Lakers out of the playoff race would do it.

The only problem is with a Jennings trade, they don't have much to give up. OJ's out of the question, can't imagine the Bucks have much interest in Marion or Kaman, and Dallas's pick is locked up with OKC through 2018. They could probably work out a deal with the Thunder to just make it a top 20 protection first from 2015 onwards, rather than 2013 onwards, so that it frees up their 2013 pick to trade for Jennings. I assume a 15-16 pick plus Darren Collison is more than enough to entice Milwaukee.

At least we didn't lose like the Blazers are to the Hornets.

Raptors won again, thats 4 in a row.

Forget about Salary Cap, and treadmills, and them being from Canada for a minute.

Where do you think their roster ranks in the East for Talent now, next year, or the foreseeable future.

Lowry- Lucas III
Derozan- Ross
Gay- Fields
Bargnani- Amir
JV- Gray

Talent wise I think this team is behind Heat, Knicks, Nets, and Celtics. I think they are in the same range as Bulls and Pacers from a straight talent aspect. So I think they are more talented then Hawks, Bucks, Detroit, Wizards, Cleveland, Philly, Orlando, and us in the Eastern Conference.

The Raptors would and will be at least 4th behind the cHeat, Knicks, and Bulls (with Derrick Rose). I'd consider them about even keel with a slight edge to the Pacers, Hawks, and Nets.

I'd put them 7th in the east right now.

Heat, Knicks, Bulls, Pacers, Nets, Celtics, Raptors... I can see the Celtics dropping off but other than that I think they've maxed out as the 6-7th best team in the east, and they're pretty much capped out. They've got some awful contracts, not even including Gay (Bargs, Fields, DeRozan).

Then a couple years from now, all of the above minus the Celtics will still be good. The Cavs are big up-and-comers, and then you've got the Pistons, 76ers, Wizards, and us with some nice young pieces who could make some noise. Plus who knows what the Hawks will look like even a week from now, they're sure to move Smith and will have tons of cap space to rebuild.

I'm just talking about talent wise. I do not think the Pacers are really that talented, just really well coached and have good team chemistry. Especially without Granger.

That Toronto team is somewhere in the 5-7 range. They have no chance against the top teams but won't have much money to move things around.

Not somewhere I want to be

I'd give my left nut to have the 5th seed and Toronto's youth. Is this team expected to skip from worse team 2 years running to 4th seed or better? Something's gotta happen in between.

Welcome to the Charlotte Bobcats RealGM board where they believe a few draft picks will automatically take them from the league's worst team to championship contender bypassing every other team acquiring talent overnight and the label of being a treadmill is used for any playoff team that doesn't stand a chance against the Miami Heat in a series.
