Re: Bynomite
Bynum has looked really good this season, it seems he can score at Will(hey wow). Seriously though, he'd be a great pick up for a contender. having said that, we'll probably resign him for 7mil

Honestly, the way he has been playing and the way he is underrated combined with how bad Knight has been looking I'd love to have hin back to backup Calderon for the next 3 years.
If we can offer him another 3 years 10 million contract I'd be happy.

If you're fine being the next Sacramento, the LoLcats or one of those teams who rebuild for 10-15 years sure

Re: Bynomite
I think it depends on whether or not we intend to still use Knight at PG. If we bring Calderon back and those 2 are taking the majority of minutes at PG I don't see the need. We can get a cheaper 3rd stringer. If we're committed to playing Knight exclusively at the 2 then I'm cool with 3 yrs, $10 mil. He's a nice change of pace from Calderon and a good sparkplug.
That said if somebody wants to give us a 1st for him I'd take it. I agree we don't want to be perpetually rebuilding, but we will have plenty of roster spots to fill and lots of money to play with. It's not like there aren't other avenues for more immediate improvement than bringing back a 30 yr old backup pg. Heck, you can trade him now and get that pick then sign a different 30 yr old backup pg to a 3 yr $10 mil contract. Will it really put us in rebuild mode for the next "10-15 years"? I kinda don't think so.
The overall theory behind having a balanced team is sound and I wholeheartedly agree, but that is a global perspective that need not be applied indiscriminately to every isolated situation.

In theory sure, do you remember a few years back when we were contending, we offered contract to absolutely everyone trying to get a backup for Prince and no one signed with Detroit? We got turned down by James freaking Jones.
We had to dump Afflalo to overpay to get Chris Wilcox to play for us and we were bidding against absolutely no one. All he got after he left Detroit was the minimum and we had to pay him 3 million/year to play for us

Detroit is not a free agents destination, if we have a good productive player who would come back at a reasonable price. i'd take him over gambling on the possibility of find, a similar player, with no ties with the team or the franchise, that would take us over the other 14 teams or so with cap space next off season.
If we have a good offer for Bynum, great, trade him, if not just bring him back, he has been much better than Knight and Stuckey, he mashed great with Drummond and CV, everyone on the team loves him.
As long as our head coach can keep him on a short leash he is a damn good player, when he is out of control it's painful to watch tho.
Worst case scenario, bring Calderon and Bynum back, make Knight work his ass off to earn any minutes, once he earn those minutes trade Bynum, if he continue to play like this, other teams will trade for him.

I heard Detroit has interest in Blair, and a Blair and Corey Joseph for Bynum works. Detroit probably wants more back, but I guess it depends on how much they value Blair, I think he would be a good fit for you guys

You got it backwards. SA had an interest in dumping Blair on the Pistons because of our capspace, but we weren't interested, according to the tweet I'm guessing you're referring to

I'm not being fooled by Bynum playing well during the final year of his contract...I don't see how a soon-to-be 31 year old Bynum will contribute to our re-build in future...I think we need a young pass-1st guard coming off our bench instead of Bynumite...

Sounds exactly right... everyone keeps saying that Knight is only 21 etc... however if he's a backup after next year then both sides start questioning their commitments.
If Willy B is still around after the deadline Joe/Frank should express their long term plans for Knight... Calderon might want to hear this too.

Re: Bynomite
^^ Why do they need to tell Knight their long term plans? He's under contract, they can do whatever they want w/ him.

This is not even Bynum's best year

He was absolutely brutal last season and this is all people remember about him.

This is not even Bynum's best yearHe had a better season in 2008-2009 for us, he was solid the next season in 09/10 and he was on part with this season in 10/11.

Pistons need to do two things with Bynum:
1) They need to figure out if they want to resign him. I'm not sure where he fits but if they feel he should be than he should stay.
2) If they have no intentions of resigning him, he should be traded for what they can get. A pick (first or second rounder), younger player (guy with potential), or future rotation guy (a guy who will be here next season) are all things Joe D has to consider.

haha, yeah I admit I'm on the Knight bandwagon...I just don't see Bynum being apart of our future bro...He's the type of player that needs to be on a contender right now, we should give him that blessing...If we're going to re-sign Calderon this summer there isn't going to be any room for Bynum going forward...A rotation involving Calderon/Knight/Bynum is gross...
