Ben Gordon going diva in Charlotte...

Post#1 » by Kilo » Thu Feb 14, 2013 7:41 pm

After a bout of disruptive behavior from Ben Gordon targeted at Charlotte Bobcats coach Mike Dunlap, the franchise's desire to trade the guard has deepened, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Ben Gordon is averaging 12.6 points this season. (AP)As Dunlap led the Bobcats in a morning shootaround on Monday before a victory over the Celtics, Gordon refused Dunlap's request to stop bouncing a ball as the coach spoke, sources said. Before long, Gordon began baiting Dunlap, telling him that he needed to "humble himself," sources said.

Gordan refused to give the ball to Dunlap, and eventually tossed it toward a ball rack, sources said.

Bobcats general manager Rod Higgins was in the practice session and ultimately intervened, sources said.

"Beyond disrespectful," was how one league source described the scene.

Was the likely 10-16 range first rounder worth these headaches and the extra year and near $14M?

We should help facilitate him elsewhere to get our pick back.

Good news is that it probably increases Stuckey's trade value. Less $ and less headache.

Yeah but teams interested in Gordon were only offering other trash, IE Humpries. I dont see his value going up (Stuckey) cause of this.

No, it was a great trade. Ben Gordon had some of the worst body language I'd ever seen here. The guys a loser, and he needed to go if we were ever to re develop a winning culture here. And he's not even a good player anyways worth putting up with a bad attitude. One dimensional 3 pt shooter.

The players we can get with his capspace should be much greater than what he provided. Plus, we don't need more rookies anyways so that draft pick is meaningless. What this team needs is more quality consistent vets added around Monroe/Drummond. We've got our young star duo for the next 12 yrs. We don't need anymore young players that take 5 yrs to develop. We need to start winning now.

I cant believe this guy is getting 12 and 13 million dollars a year!

Dumars was stupid to give him that contract, but smart to get out of it.

Therefore, Dumars is just average.

BG killed his career when he signed with us. Should've never left the Bulls...I was a huge fan of him too back then. To be fair, part of his lack of success here had to do with the coaching staff, but I'd say 60% of it is on him.

I wouldn't say Gordon killed his career by signing with us...I thought he lost a step after his ankle surgery and Kuester didn't/couldn't/wouldn't play him correctly...When Frank took over we actually had a nice 3-guard rotation last season with Knight/Stuckey/Gordon...Just think how nice that would've been with Drummond in the paint...

I am always fascinated with pro athletes who just totally drop off. We have seen this so many times where guys go from an 18/5 solid 3rd option to 11/1 cancer for the rest of their career and bounce around the league.

This is why teams shouldn't throw big bucks at players based off of "Potential." See Eric Bledsoe here as a good example and possibly Jeremy Lin.
