Cauley-Stein or Plumlee??
As much hate as I have for Dook, i'd say Plumlee. His offensive game has made a nice bump this season...and he is aggressive going after boards and is just a tick under 7 feet.

The only one out of that group that particularly like is WCS. He's gonna be a solid, starter level center eventually. Austin is too slow/thin, Plumlee has zero upside, CJ plays very similarly to Kemba but he is talented, Archie is a complete knucklehead but could be special, Burke is probably a better college player than he'll ever be NBA, and GRIII is a high upside pick but plays same position as MKG and Taylor.
Honestly, I'd rather trade down and grab a Tony Mitchell, Oladipo*, Poythress*, Caldwell-Pope, etc.

Re: 2013 NBA draft prospects chatter
In this class I'm not sure it'd be possible for him to fall out of the top 5...barring some off-the-court issue(s). Yeah, he hasn't looked great lately, but with Noel injured someone has to go in the top 5.
...though honestly Noel is probably still a top 5 guy.

He has improved every year at Duke, the only person I would take over him is Noel.

@BD
Unfortunately I get to watch very little College ball and I was wondering if you could give me a rundown on Cauley-Stein?
Noone talks about him at all but he is a serious threat to go top ten! Aside from his number what are the nuances to his game? We are in dire need of a(nother) C and we may have the PDX pick or trade/trade down.
Mitchell, Cauley-Stein, McAdoo, Austin and Gobert/A combination of them will be in play at 13 definitely imo.

Re: 2013 NBA draft prospects chatter
I think if you take one of the guards first you could go Plumlee with our second pick. He is what he is. He will be a solid player but he has reached his max right now. He has developed a bit of a hook shot but most of his points come off dunking. He is limited offensively at the next level right now do to lack of counter moves. Good news is when he has an advantage he will exploit it and score but most of the time he is more of a 12 and 7 guy at the next level I think. I think he can be a solid role player but he won't fix our need for a go to guy. Now if Mclemore can be that guy Plumlee will be a great compliment to Biz down low.

But is he worth taking over Tony Mitchell at 13? Withey may be available in the second for all we know.

I've seen Plumlee score in more ways than just dunking. He has some nice post moves this year and he is very athletic for a guy his size being almost 7 feet. Not sure why folks are saying he's reached his peak when he's shown steady improvement every year, taking a big leap this year. He's a much better pro prospect than Tyler Hansborough who went 13 overall when he came out. He battles down low like Hansbro, hustles, has much more refined post game, taller, and a much better athlete.

He has spent 4 years at Duke to become a late lottery pick at best. That's not an overwhelming sign that he'll become anything more than a poor man's Kris Humphries.

Personally, I think he's the best center prospect in the draft outside of Noel. He has excellent size, he's slow but no more than Duncan and pretty athletic for his size (played WR in high school). Good hands, great instincts, plays like a classic back to the basket center. His post game is raw but honestly not much worse than Zeller's and he looks like a guy that can easily develop fundamentals. I like his hustle, he plays intelligently, rarely forces things and looks for open teammates. Not a good FT shooter at all. But overall, I'd take him as a Bobcat easily. His floor can't be much lower than a Robin Lopez/Tiago Splitter and he's got some poor man's Duncan potential. He reminds me most of a much smarter, slightly more athletic Josh Boone.

Cheers BD, I like the rich man's Josh Boone comp, I got to watch a lot of Boone at UCONN and I thought he would be a legit NBA rotation big.
He sounds like the kind of guy we need next to/behind Biyombo.
The classic back to the basket description excites me!

Re: 2013 NBA draft prospects chatter
Admittedly I need to see more of Mitchell but I'll go with WCS. Mitchell kind of scares me as a tweener. The GM in me goes with WCS b/c he'll easily be good value at the pick, Mitchell is a bit more hit and miss but his athleticism is definitely intriguing.

Re: 2013 NBA draft prospects chatter
So I was looking at some of the senior prospects (Plumlee, Withey, McCollum) and became curious as to how often they pan out. Looked at the last 10 drafts (2003, the LeBron draft), and found 7 seniors that went on make an all-star team. Anyone wanna take a guess? NOCHEATING!1!!1
HINT 1: Only one of them made an All-NBA team.
HINT 2: Only one of them was drafted in the last 5 years.
Second trivia question: When was the last time a SG was drafted number one overall? (This one's actually kinda debatable, due to there being so many SG/SF hybrids.)

David West, Chris Kaman(?), Brandon Roy and then I've got no idea admittedly.

West and Roy are right...and Roy was the one All-NBAer. Kaman was a junior apparently.

pretty much sold on mclemore..I think he's got it....put him in the backcourt with kemba and get a veteran big who can score in the paint... I think we will see a 15 win jump from this years team.. still not enough to get in the playoffs but closer

Wasn't Okafor one. Also I don't remember if he made it too but wasn't Nelson in the running one year?

Okafor never made an all-star game
1/2 David West and Brandon Roy already named.
3 David Lee from Florida
4 Roy Hibbert from Georgetown
5 Jameer Nelson was a senior for a fantastic St Joes team
6 Carolinas native Josh Howard
can't think of a 7th. maybe one of the guys from that b2b Florida team, Noah or Horford?

Re: 2013 NBA draft prospects chatter
Emeka was also only a junior, as were Horford and Noah. Danny Granger is the last one. My final hint, if needed, was gonna be "three current Pacers": Granger, West, and Hibbert.
