I watched the San Antonio and the Washington games again from tape (couldn't watch the NO game as it was awful). Early in the games, the flow of the offensive sets were similar, Knight and Calderon split the first ball handler job (when we gave up a basket it went to Jose, out of the rebound it usually went to Knight first). In the SAS game, Knight started off aggressive and went to the basket finishing with layups. And he hit a couple of jumpers off dribble when he had the ball. And when Calderon had the ball first, Knight used a curl action to catch and finish around the rim or use the space to shoot a mid-ranger.
In the Washington game, Knight again started the game trying to go to the basket but couldn’t finish this time. He also couldn’t hit anything off dribble. He didn’t use the curl around a screen which he was successful in the other game at all. For the rest of the game, he mostly tried to catch and shoot although he could create space with his dribble, which wasn’t there that game.
It is too early to tell if it will work or not, I think he will be more efficient this way as he doesn’t have to handle the ball too much and get the ball in triple threat position (where he can shoot pass or attack).

Typical message board overreactions.
He's 21 years old and in his second season (including last seasons shortened one, which isn't the best way to enter the league). He was learning to play the point and just had his position and role completely switched. He was hardly a polished product in college and we knew we would have to be patient with his development.
There are flashes and I see the tools, but consistency is very up and down. That's what happens to young players still learning to play. I'll continue to be patient, trust that the coaches and his work ethic will result in steady gains and will re-evaluate after the season.

I see. Pistons should sell Knight to other teams based off of potential. Maybe they can get something good for him. I would take a top 10 pick for him.

I'd take it. The Pistons have way too many needs not to consider it.

I'd sooooo take a top 10 pick for Knight. I still assume he will have a starting gig in the NBA, but just not for a good team.

Why should we expect steady improvement from Knight at SG when he's been the starting point guard for more than a year and improved minimally at that position? If his work ethic and intelligence don't show up on the court, they aren't useful to an NBA team.

How many players has Joe overpaid? Not sure how this myth started, but I always view Joe as too cheap, not the the other way around.
Atkins, Corliss, Sheed, Billups, Rip, Tay (twice), Nazr Mohammed, Gordon, CV, and Stuckey.
Sheed, Chauncey, Rip and Tay were worth every single penny. The brought a ring to this franchise as major contributors...how quickly we forget.

Don't forget Corliss was our 6th man off the bench during that championship run and won 6th man of the year 2 yrs before. Anytime a player wins an award for being the best in the league at the role you signed him for, I'd say thats getting your moneys worth. Besides iirc Joe didn't even give him that contract, it was already in place when he traded for him. Plus Atkins was intrumental in building the foundation of that whole run. There's no such thing as overspending on a championship team if they win it all.
Stuckey on a 3 yr deal was not overpaid. Overpaying wouldve been given him 5 yrs. Joe refused to give 5 and only gave him 3, which is another case of his frugelness.
And idk how you can call any MLE deal overpaid, such as Nazr's. The definition of an MLE is a moderately paid player. If you're getting 62 starts out of a Center that eventually led to 53 and 59 win seasons and b2b ECF, I'd say thats worth an MLE deal.
Gordon and CV are the only two I can think of that were overpaid. If two overpaid signings outweigh like a dozen or more underpaid and fairly paid signings, and make Joe an "overspender", then this must be the twlight zone.
