OKC - BOS - DET trade

Post#1 » by GooseDiddy » Fri Feb 15, 2013 9:04 pm

Hearing through the grapevine that this has been proposed to Joe D...

BOS IN: Stuckey, Reggie Jackson, PJ3
BOS OUT: Jeff Green, Fab Melo

OKC IN: Will Bynum, Fab Melo
OKC OUT: J Lamb, Reggie, PJ3

DET IN: Jeff Green, J Lamb
DET OUT: Stuckey, Bynum

Seems to make sense except for the Fab Melo inclusion, leaves Boston kinda weak up front, and gives OKC 4 centers. IDK how I feel about this, but I thought I'd pass it along.

That seems too good to be true. I'm definitely taking this stuff with a grain of salt but if it's true I would be all over this. We would be getting our SG and SF while giving up the trash that we are all dying to get rid of...

Grapevine? You have inside sources?

Not a fan of Green but I'd definitely do this deal because I love Lamb's game.

It worked in the trade machine.

Who are your sources?

Boston needs size and Green is playing fairly significant minutes for them, so I am not sure how much sense it makes for them. Doc Rivers has said they are looking for a guard and a 5 or 4 that can rebound.

Bynum, Stuckey and Max (and Singler if they are trading Green) could all make sense for the Celtics.

Not sure how I feel about it, but a Monroe/Rondo blockbuster could also make sense. The best FA are bigs (Howard, Al Jeff, Josh Smith, Bynum, Millsap) so with all our cap space it could be something to think about.

Cut Boston out and trade Bynum, Krav & our Two 2013 2nd round picks for Lamb, Jackson, Jones. But I don't believe this rumor anyways.

My sources are telling me Lebron has decided to become a free agent in 2014 and will team up with CP3 in Detroit.

Seriously though, I doubt this is true. If it was I would be ecstatic. But it is not. OKC gets shafted.

No inside source of any note, just a rumor I've heard today. Don't expect anyting until wednesday or thursday anyway.

The reason it looks too good to be true is because you're not looking at the contracts. Bynum is expiring and can be a scorer off the bench rental for a playoff team. Stuckey sucks, but next year is the last year on his deal and he'd be backing up Rondo next season. Boston moves a guy (Green) who's got 3 season after this one, is owed a lot of money, and hasn't amounted to what they hoped to get in return for Perkins, They need a couple PGs for this play off run, and they get PJ3 cheap to see what happens with him.

The part I can't figure out is the Fab Melo part. OKC wouldn't play him, and the Celtics need him with Sullinger (and then Green) out. Maybe Bradley gets swapped in for Fab? I don't know. it's needs some tweaking or Boston doesn't get what they need back.

You can also pull Fab Melo and Reggie Jackson out of the deal completely and it still works numbers wise.

Maybe this is the beginings of Maynor getting moved to either Detroit or Boston....

Personally I would do this deal in a second, but it does seem too good to be true.

You don't usually see 2 playoff teams giving up the best players in a deal, only to send them to a lottery team for their scraps.

I could see OKC trading Lamb for Bynum, and maybe PJ3 for Melo, given OKCs needs. But the BOS side of the trade doesn't make sense. I don't know why theyd give up Green/Melo for Stuckey/PJ3/Williams. Unless its a salary cap thing.

I do know that Dumars has reportedly liked Jeff Green for a long time though, so I could see Joe trying to orchestrate a 3 team deal like this to get Green, if he's already in discussions with OKC for Bynum. Its just hard to see BOS/OKC agreeing to it.

Calderon/Knight
Lamb/Knight
Green/Singler
Monroe/CV
Drummond/Monroe

If this deal happened, I would love that 8 man rotation. Plus still having tons of capspace and a lotto pick this year. We'd be on track to be back contending real quick

Bynum is playing like one of the best back up points in the league. Hardly garbage. He's also an expiring so that has value.

If Dumars pull something like this he deserves an extension the next day.

P. Diddy where did you get your info from??. The trade is balanced talent wise, I just don't like Jeff Green's contract...

Yes. Bynum is not the garbage part. To a contender, he has more value than these young players involved. The Green for Stuckey part is what I don't get, because I think Green has way more value than Stuckey. But it could be BOS cant afford to keep him.

But considered there is no actual source to this deal, its probably a waste of time debating it.

Agreed, in no way is Lamb ready to start. He's played 64 minutes total this year and he struggles to play defense without fouling.

In three minutes against us, he had no points 2 fouls and a turnover
