Personally I'd take 00-06 Shaq over 00-09 Kobe if I was a GM.

Shaq was so dominant in the early 00's... Kobe never approached that level.

I mean what is Kobe's argument over Shaq?

Rings won as the man (00-09)
Shaq : 3
Kobe : 1

Yeah Kobe's worst 2-3 years are probably better then Shaq's who was a shell of himself from 07-09 but considering Kobe was injured in 05 and hobbled in the 03 playoffs that is not as significant.

I think both Duncan and Shaq have strong cases over Kobe for best player of the 00 decade and anyone who thinks Kobe was so far ahead he deserves the title all to himself like Jordan for the 90's is an idiot.

Let me guess ...6-24 shooting, so you took away 2010 conveniently for your comparison.

Rings: Kobe 5, Duncan 4
Finals MVPS: Duncan 3, Kobe 2
MVPs: Duncan 2, Kobe 1

For me to accept Kobe is better than Duncan would seem to mean I would accept that Duncan could not win 1 or more rings playing with Prime Shaq.

I don't think that's a very realistic scenario.

honestly its pretty simple, the flashy guard always gets the nod over the center/powerforward almost always

yes Shaq was better than kobe in LA, but if you think all those shots kobe jacked in 4th quarters hasn't left an indelible mark on people who think clutch shots make you great then youre mistaken.

Shaq's era was 2000 to 2004...that's literally it, he was dominant but you can't just give him the whole 2000's based off 3 title runs. But i'm forgetting where i am right now...

Shaq's era is 00-06, unless you wanna dismiss Kobe's years being Robin to his Batman?

And yes, you absolutely can and should give it to him, cause he was THAT DOMINANT. He changed the game.

Shaq for me is without question the face of the 00's.

And would you stop with the "I forgot this is RealGM" bit for the 5th time now? We get it.

Why doesn't Kobe's 2010 ring not count? Wade said of this era, not decade. Quit taking away a season of heart & dedication that ultimately resulted in a ring.

Shaq is absolutely in the 00's.

Same as you say Jordan is in the 90's when he was drafted in 84.

Shaq
Duncan
Kobe

Are the face of the 00's, imo in that order.

If we're talking face it has to be Kobe for the 2000s. Who was more marketable than Kobe? Also has to do for the love of wing players, thanks to MJ. (League was desperate for next MJ. Kobe studied MJ/ modeled his game after Michaels

there is no argument for kobe over shaq

it just so happens that kobe is the closest player to mimic jordan and probably will be the ONLY in my opinion. his likeness to jordan is the main reason for his popularity.

for another SG to take a run at a 3peat is highly unlikely given the current state of potential elite shooting guards. the game has evolved from the 6'6" player who does everything to guys that are now 6'9" - 6'11" that play like 2 guards or post up like 4's.

there is no chance in hell anyone will get closer to jordan than kobe in the next 50 years. i would bet a lot of money on it.
