LA Clippers Receive: Kevin Garnett, Aaron Afflalo, Jason Collins and future 1st rd pick from Celtics

Orlando Trades: JJ Redick, Aaron Afflalo

SF: Paul Pierce, Jeff Green

I think this would be a great deal for all teams, if especially Orlando finds a suitor for AL Harrington or Big Baby. Clippers become title contenders with Garnett, and AA in their lineup, and Boston finds a way to rebuild with youth but still have enough talent to make some noise in the playoffs.

Interesting but I'd pass. If we give up both Affalo and Reddick a first round pick better be coming back or one of Harrington, Big Baby, Al Harrington better be going out with expirings coming our way. Bledsoe would also be starting over Nelson.

As much as we alll would love to have Bledsoe on our team, I still dont think he will start on this team right away. He has to earn that spot from Meer from my point of view.

Rondo's game isn't based on speed and quickness? You don't have a clue what you're talking about.

There wasn't a single rumour about a DRose deal this summer, just after his injury. The only talk was whether or not he could come back at an elite level. There may be a team that would deal for Rose, but they'd offer pennies on the dollar, so Chicago's best option would be to take a risk on him returning rather than cutting their losses at this point. And Rose is on another level compared to Rondo. Ross in top form is able to carry a team on his own, whilst Rondo relies on his team mates completing the plays he sets up.

Teams avoid injured players. You seriously couldnt even give me an example of an injured player being traded recently after their injury, you had to make up a bull hypothetical about whether or not Rose would be traded. There's a reason Portland had to retire Roy before another team would take a chance on him (even though it's not ACL). Do some homework dude, you haven't actually said anything that's supported by reality yet.

I just found the worst article in the history of mankind.....

http://www.rantsports.com/nba/2013/02/16/orlando-magics-nikola-vucevic-fails-to-perform-and-rising-stars-challenge/

At 15-37 coming into the NBA All-Star Break and after having little-to-no success this season, it’s not exactly surprising that the Orlando Magic only have one player participating in all of the All-Star Weekend contests. That one player was Nikola Vucevic in Friday night’s BBVA Rising Stars Challenge.

For the Magic’s sake, Vucevic needed to come out and put on a good show in the game so that he would at least give Orlando a little bit of respect and something to hang their hat on. That’s not how it worked out, though.
Vucevic, part of Team Shaq, scored only 15 points and gathered only four rebounds in a little more than 19 minutes. Those aren’t the worst numbers in a regular game, but for an All-Star style game those are pretty mundane stats.

I don't see how Rondo's game is based on speed and quickness. He doesn't usually take defenders on 1-on-1; he gets screens. His only offense is passing. However, there is no sure way of saying this injury won't affect his game. He does need to be quick to defend. The only team that should take a chance on him is the team he's currently on.

Also, just felt I should note that Roy had knee problems in college and attempted to return from knee surgery after just 8 days.

Monta, Rose, Westbrook, Wade, Wall....these are guys whose abilities largely rely on their "speed and athleticism". Rondo does not. I would hardly call him super-"athletic". One of the many reasons he was drafted as low as he was. His "speed" helps a bit defensively but he is hardly a player who makes a living mostly on beating his defender off the dribble because of his explosiveness. What player are you watching? He is long for a PG, which makes him a good defender, and he has amazing court vision. He runs a half court offense probably better than anybody other than Nash in his prime. All of these things (length, height, court vision, b-ball IQ) aren't going away because of an ACL injury. Same reasons that Nash has been so productive up until almost the age of 40.

Your argument about how many people have traded for stars who just had an ACL tear is pretty weak. That sample size can't be very big. How many players who were one of the top 2-3 at their position in the league have had ACL tears? How many of those have been involved in trade rumors before that injury, haven't gotten along with the brass/teammates? How many were also teamed with a bunch of vets at the end of their careers with the team looking to possibly start anew? All of these factors make this a relatively unique situation. The sample size is minute when you pull all these factors together. And if you don't think almost every team in the league wouldn't be willing to trade most of their team for Rose, you're a complete fool. You basically make my argument for me in your own statements too. How hypocritical. "And Rose is on another level compared to Rondo. Ross in top form is able to carry a team on his own, whilst Rondo relies on his team mates completing the plays he sets up." I thought Rondo's game was based on his speed and athleticism, and not his ability to create for others?...

Is it a risk? Of course. Risks get taken all the time in the NBA, in sports, in life. Just look at Bynum last year, at Dwight after his back surgery, us signing Grant Hill, etc etc etc. Your comment that "no team" would trade for Rondo is asinine. Look at teams like the Lakers, Hawks, etc who might lose their stars to free agency for nothing. Might it be worth the risk to them to get Rondo in a trade in case, which is quite likely, that he returns to normal form? Sure it might. Then again, the majority of comments you've made on this board I've thought the same thing about.

I think a better question is, "How many star players return to form after major knee injuries, and how long do they continue to perform at an elite level?"

I can't think of any. Knee injuries seem to be the single most effective way to end a career prematurely than anything else.

Think about what you're proposing. You're saying it would be better business sense to risk a $25million dollar loss for zero return, locking up your cap space for two years, to avoid having a player walk for nothing. Bad business there.

Well, at least he gets points for spelling and grammar, but when you combine the terms "Vucevic" and "power dunks," it becomes abundantly clear that researching one's subject matter isn't your strong suit.

Some teams may not gamble on a player with an ACL injury, but I also don't think many teams would feel forced to trade an injured allstar PG who's in his prime, has a ton of playoff experience and has tallied 11 assists for 3 consecutive seasons. To say no team would take the risk is a bit of a stretch. I think Rondo will be fine. He played through 2 overtimes with that injury and walked around the next couple days without even realizing it was a season-ending injury. And I believe they said it was a partial tear and he could come back sooner than expected. Rondo deceptively uses speed, but he doesn't completely rely on athleticism like a Westbrook type player. After all, he's much more of an intelligent passer than a shooter/scorer.

Wow, how can you cover the rising stars game if you don't even know the rosters... if Nicholson doesn't play for the Magic, who the hell does this guy think he plays for? And apparently he's choosing to ignore the many times current and former players have said the allstar game is a guards game and bigs typically don't get the ball. Seriously, even if you can't figure it out yourself, it's said so many times on TV, in the paper, etc this time of year. Vucevic hitting 6/8 for 15pts in 19 minutes off the bench was damn good. I'd rip him a new one if the comments section didn't require facebook sign-in.
