How Good Is/Can Chandler Parsons Be?

Post#1 » by PhilasFinest » Sun Feb 17, 2013 4:53 pm

Hey, outsider here but have like Parsons since college. From what i see, he's having a big year so far.

My question is...how good has he been this year, and how good could he become for your squad???

Have another thread just like this maybe on page 2-3.

I'm probably not the best person to answer this.
But Parsons has been the 2nd best player on the team, well its close between him and Asik.

He is a top 10 player at his position and is a very hard worker improving greatly on his shot.
AND his shoulder has been hurt all year, still his shot has improve.

He is what Philly wanted Turner to be...
A big guard/forward who can handle the ball, make players, defend, rebound & score.

Zubby is right in that either while Lin's the hyped one, Parsons or Asik are the second most valuable members of the team. He's also a massive fan favorite (will openly admit that his looks help a lot in that regard  ). I was actually worried at the beginning of the season that other Rockets fans would expect too much out of Parsons in his second year and had just hoped that he maintained his pace, but he actually improved. His defense has somewhat fallen off compared to his rookie year, but that's largely due to the increased he has to handle now.

If Parsons has weaknesses, it's that while he's a good athlete, he's not a GREAT one and while he's good at finishing, he doesn't really draw fouls at all. He's not going to ever be a star or a top 20 player in this league, but if everything goes right, I could see him being someone like Luol Deng.
But do you know what they call a fool, who's full of himself and jumps into the path of death because it's cool?

He is what he is for the most part. A pretty good, sometimes great all around player, but not elite at anything He will get a little more efficient and a little better on defense, what you see is what you get.

I think he is as good as he is going to get. Solid role player can help you close out games from time to time

All valid points and I'm very pleased with his impact on the court. But let me just say that he's expendable assuming there's a good package available.
