That would be the worst lineup in the league.
Would force Mully to play inside a lot more, but I'd much rather Mully and Bargs just evenly split minutes so they never see each other on the court together.

Front court rotation:
Haywood (16) / Biz (24) / Mullens (8)
Mullens (16) / Bargnani (24) / Adrien (8)

This way Bargnani would only play alongside an inside presence. Nobody ever wants to see Bargnani or Mullens on the court together, although it would be nice to have one on the court at all times. Thomas, Diop, and Warrick are only there as injury reserves.

CHA receive: Andrea Bargnani, Terrence Ross, Landry Fields, Linas Kleiza

TOR receive: Ben Gordon, DeSagana Diop (expiring), Jeffery Taylor, Portland 1st rounder

I wouldn't be so quick to pull the trigger on this deal but if we're that desperate to get rid of BG then this isn't a bad exchange.
Sure, get it done. I am not sure it's enough to get Ross (I'm sure they absolutely love him) but if it is then we have to leap on this. Ross is a mini-sized Paul George IMO.

If we give up a pick/young guy to get Bargnani without getting anything positive back, there might be a sudden increase in cyanide sales in the Carolinas.

For an out of the box big man trade what about Houston? I really think they are a good candidate for Dwight Howard and in my opinion his best option, he will probably re sign in LA but he shouldn't! If he does sign for Houston they will definitely have to balance their roster.

As Houston has the cap for a max(Dwight) they may be under by enough to do S&T.

Charlotte Trades:

Charlotte Bobcats S&T Byron Mullens(5/30m)+Ramon Sessions+Brendan Haywood

Houston trades:

Omer Asik+Greg Smith+Marcus Morris+First round pick

Why for both teams?

Charlotte manages to trade Mullens for a pair of bigs and a tweener SF/PF who would actually fill a need for us, Asik is much better than Mullens and much cheaper than Pekovic will be. Greg Smith has very good potential and Marcus Morris would be like the anti-MKG but in a good way. A first round pick is a first round pick for us.

I'm really high on Smith and I think Morris can be a serviceable NBA role player.

Charlotte:

Kemba/vet(FA)
McLemore/Hendo(QO)/Taylor
MKG/Taylor/Morris
Smith/Biyombo/Morris
Asik/Biyombo/Smith

Well balanced team imo but we still lack spacing...but the DEFENSE.

In this hypothetical where Houston has landed Dwight to play with Harden, they immediately go all in for the title, Jeremy Lin at PG won't cut it (especially out West) and they need shooters and especially a shooting big+vet presence...Perfect trade package for them without giving up too much.

Draft picks won't matter too much with a team with Dwight+Harden.

Houston:

Sessions/Lin
Harden/Douglas/Vet
Parsons/Delfino/Vet
Mullens/Patterson/Jones
Howard/Haywood/Motiejunas

They need to upgrade a few backups (SG/SF) but have the pieces to trade for such.

Asik and Biyombo might be the first duo in history two combine for averages of 5 points and 20 rebounds. We're in need of an offensive big man, not another defensive one.

Things should really begin to pick up now that all star weekend is over. Should be an interesting next couple of days.

I would offer HOU Sessions straight up for Smith. (little for big)
Or Sessions for Terrence Jones, who has higher upside than Morris, imo.
or best case, Sessions for Smith & Jones, if HOU would (doubtful).

 ...the sad reality of following this team. The moment where hope rises, falls, and the naked truth makes one say.."how do we ever get out of this cycle of basketball poverty?"

There are 3 ways to get better; the draft, trades and free agency.

FREE AGENCY: Charlotte will only be a player for a major free agent when we have both the money and the team that can support a star coming to win a championship. This is nearly impossible; if our young draft picks ever get good enough they will get paid, and by then we will have no bucket of money to offer a true star.

DRAFT: A team has to both be lucky AND make the right picks to get mighty via the draft. Charlotte has generally done poorly in the draft, but the Cho era has seemingly improved this to average. We better get a star soon.

TRADE: This is why the trade deadline is so important to the Cats. Trades can bridge the gap, bringing in quality players of need (per Cho), especially when there is future financial flexibility. Still, few deals are out there for the Cats this year. Too many teams seem set on maintaining their core. The primary action seems to be from teams needing to avoid the luxury tax (like Toronto). Lastly our trade assets are not the most robust.

I hope we can pull off a quality swap, but I am not jazzed over getting Bargs or some other "accomodation" deal.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

This is why in the mean time I would like to see us be Value players on the trade and free agency market, cherry picking young players with upside, perhaps buried on depth charts, before they expensively breakout, or inexpensive bigs who might help with our size issue.

Word!

Greg Smith and Kyle O'Quinn really intrigue me.

Andrew Nicholson if we could nab him also.

Utah - Charlotte - New Orleans

Utah
Incoming Players
DeSagana Diop
Ramon Sessions
Portland 1st via Charlotte
Outgoing Players
Al Jefferson

Charlotte
Incoming Players
Eric Gordon
Al Jefferson
Outgoing Players
Ben Gordon
DeSagana Diop
Ramon Sessions
Portland 1st via Charlotte
Charlotte 2013 1st (Likely to be #1 overall)

New Orleans

Incoming Players
Ben Gordon
Charlotte 2013 1st (Likely to be #1 overall)
Outgoing Players
Eric Gordon

Jazz get a solid PG and a nice pick for someone who is likely to leave in free agency anyway.

Charlotte switchs one malcontent for another, but wins a lot more games rather than being in perpetual rebuild mode.

New Orleans quits bluffing and pulls the trigger on Eric Gordon trade, but has to take back a 1 year contract for the #1 over all pick.

Too many moving parts to be realistic, but its salivating to think of Gordon and Jefferson on this team.

As much as I like both players, Jefferson is a FA, and Gordon is locked into a max deal and is as injury-prone as they come. No thanks.

Not a valid trade, so I didn't even think about it.

Some interesting trade rumor tidbits...

@WojYahooNBA: Three teams that league GM's on phones believe will make significant moves before trade deadline: Atlanta, Milwaukee and Phoenix.

@WojYahooNBA: Portland still willing to move J.J. Hickson, but hasn't found an appealing offer yet, sources tell Y!

@WojYahooNBA: Minnesota has been aggressive in offering multiple first-round picks for established talent, league sources tell Y!

@WojYahooNBA: Teams trying to trade for J.J. Redick surveying cost to re-sign him in summer. If Bucks move a starting guard, he's a major target for them.

@WojYahooNBA: One more: In Josh Smith derby, several teams believe Suns are determined for deal after missing on Eric Gordon and Rudy Gay in past months.

Jumps out at me.

Hendo+(?) for multiple first round picks+filler.

I'd rather take a run at Derrick Williams though.

I don't really think of Gerald Henderson as established talent. I don't think we would be able to pry a single 1st round pick for him, let alone multiple first round picks. We could easily lose him for nothing if some team prices him out of our reach this summer...

This trade deadline looks to be a bad fit for us. I don't have a great feeling about it.

Teams with established talent are willing to part with it because it's an expiring contract like Millsap, Jefferson, Hickson, Dwight Howard and Josh Smith. Trades of top talent will benefit teams in the playoff hunt looking to make a run and willing to trade value for 1/2 season of these guys. For us we'd be better off pocketing our value and waiting for free agency.

The more long-term talent is usually in the form of a bad contract like Boozer. I feel if we didn't go all-in on Rudy Gay, the best of the bad contracts, we won't add Boozer, Bargs, Gasol or any of the other bad deals.

I agree we should target young players who are blocked or subject to a logjam situation. To me that includes Terrence Ross, Jason Thompson, Derek Williams, Ed Davis, Jeremy Lamb, Marshon Brooks...guys like that.

But there's no urgency. Those deals may be there on draft day.

For now, we are in a position to sell off assets to teams in the hunt. We should be trying to get playoff teams to overpay while they are under pressure to solidify their roster and make a run.

Ben Gordon fits Chicago and Brooklyn. Gerald Henderson fits Memphis and Indiana. Sessions fits OKC, Dallas, Boston. Diop's expiring works for any team up against the tax.

It just seems contending teams will be distracted by the Al Jeffersons out there before they look to us for complimentary players. Then you figure guys like Jennings and Bledsoe will attract suitors.
It has been written...
