is he saying we arent a contender?

No. By saying "he caught that bug," that means that he liked playing for a contender so he wants to play for another one.

Charles was probably the best DB in Packers history. A privilege to watch; the kind of guy who makes the whole defense better. His ability to shut down WRs and couple that with a sublime ability to make big plays made him the best player on our roster pretty much until Rodgers became Godgers.

He's started to slip, and it became readily apparent during the last couple years that he just wasn't the same player. Breaking your collarbone twice is a big problem, too.

I would've rather he restructured, because I think his veteran presence could help our young safeties. But my guess is that the team is letting him shop around to see if he can get a better deal than what the Packers were willing to offer.

I'm still very concerned about our safeties, though. I haven't been convinced by MD, Jeron, or Morgan. We need a couple of those guys to step up big time or for Ted to go make a splash in the draft/FA.

How long will it be before another guy comes along who can do all the different things Wood did at the highest level during his DPOY type seasons? I wonder how much better he could have been with us had we had a DC that used him in the creative ways that Capers did rather than Jim Bates and Bob Sanders who just stuck him outside in bump and run coverage.

Incredible player.

Well said. Will always be one of my favorites.

This.

Farewell to my favorite Packer since Favre.

Burnett is good at one spot though he has had lapses in coverage he did have 2 picks plus he is a solid tackler. He called DB signals & coaches & woodson said he did a good job. I expect a major step up from him this year. McMillian is gonna be good in time but now is green can play dime. Be nice to add vet FA Kenny Philips.

[Insert usual rant about signing expensive vet FAs here]

Pretty much agree. In an ideal world, Jennings gets phased out and Burnett plays the Low Safety and McMillian plays the High Safety at a level befitting his speed.

More likely, McMillian starts out the year at High Safety and is a mixed bag. Burnett takes back over some of the High Safety duties, while McMillian starts to gradually improve, and is ready to come in for the 2014 season and play very well.

McMillian is one of the guys I expect to take a big leap this offseason. I'll be disappointed if he isn't the unquestioned starter coming out of camp.

Had to do it with all his injuries of late. Hope all the best for him and now it's time, yet again, for our young secondary to prove themselves. Probably take a safety mid-late round in this year's draft
