Trade Deadline Watch

Post#1 » by SD2042 » Tue Feb 19, 2013 12:46 am

This will be the watch thread for the pending trade deadline for the next few days. Moves will be made and players will either make their contending teams better or rebuild for the future.

Who do you believe will be trading teams by Thrusday's deadline?

So far, our team already got a jumpstart already.

I think Josh Smith is coming to the Southwest.

Houston has the young players/ cap space.

San Antonio may have enough pieces, and definitely have the urgency to upgrade while their window is still open.

Dallas will not make the playoffs without acquiring another good player.

I can't see Brooklyn figuring out a good enough offer to get Smith.

On Josh Smith, I'll have to agree. PHX is the only team in the west who have express great interest in acquiring Smoove from the Hawks. I wonder can the Hawks can get Gortat out the deal? That way Horford can play at his natural position at PF. Especially since he can stretch out the offense with his mid-range jumpers.

Although you make a good point on Houston, they hasn't been mention in terms of wanting to move certain players to my knowledge.

Dallas will struggle to make it to the playoffs if they don't find a right deal within the next 28hrs.

I suspect the Spurs will make a move to help better their chances for the playoffs.

I'm looking for Toronto to make another move with Bargs. Charlotte with both Ben Gordon and Gerald Henderson.

Per Verno:

Grizzlies deadline news: The Grizzlies are making a push to attain JJ Redick.

Says we're likely offering the Gay TPE and two 2nd rounders.

That's a good deal for us. We suck at picking 2nd rounders anyway.

I think someone is going to offer more though.

What I do think is that our trade exception could net us filler from a Redick trade. The Magic probably don't want to take back full salary for Redick, so I bet we can get whatever filler the other team needs to send. And maybe pick up a draft pick if it's kind of a bad value contract-wise.

So, we inked Pittman and a 2nd from Miami. Not JJ Redick, but at least we made a move.

I'm excited about pick 59. Hopefully, we find the next Manu.

Maybe brainwash the Spurs to find one for us. They can find diamonds in the rough too perfectly.

As for Pittman, he looks lazy and doesn't contribute as much. I would've preferred Jerome Jordan, the center the Grizz tried out during the preseason.

I actually agree with you on Jerome Jordan. I was impressed with him in training camp, summer league, and in the D League showcase I watched. I still prefer Whiteside b/c I think he has more upside, but Jordan is better than Pittman imo.

It`s little sad we could not get JJ.Redick. If We still has Mo and 1rounder pick then we could done this.

I agree. In retrospect, the Rudy Gay trade was not all that bad, but the Speights trade was terrible.

I don't think we need Reddick enough - for what he would cost us. He's way overvalued. I think Orlando made out better in that trade. it would be awesome if he came here on his own on a modest deal to chase a ring though! :)

The Magic did make out better in the trade. Players like Redick, BBD, Harrington, and Meer are just bargaining chips at this point to help the Magic in their rebuilding process. Within the next five yrs, I'm expecting the Magic to be as better like the Thunder when thye first got started.
