Also very strange seeing nate33 post without using in-depth statistics to back up assertions....it's like a parallel universe!

This is awesome! I dug around and found a few other old threads for anyone who wants to make a trip down Memory Lane:

It's a good thing for me that the "Is Arenas Clutch?" thread seems to be dead.

It's crazy to see those old site layouts.

Holy time machine... Can't believe this was 3 years go

Ha Cramer - don't mess with Juan Dixon or your illegitimate son Scottie Reynolds. Those were the rules. Now that Gary Williams is gone, hopefully the Scottie Reynold's of the world will actually be recruited by the Terps. This is off-topic, but Nolan Smith, another local product, who won a title with Duke, came out on Twitter last week saying that Gary Williams never recruited him. It's just unbelievable how lazy Williams was when it came to recruiting.

To bring it back to Dixon, the guy on the first page of the Amazingly Sucky thread had it right. I don't care what he did in his post-Terps career - he'll always be a local hero.

I barely remember some guy named Grevis; or Grevey? Don't remember anyone named Juan. :dontknow:

It's actually Greivis, but that wasn't my point. Of course he was going to land some dudes...but his overall recruitment record is indefensible, especially coming off a national championship playing in the ACC. Dixon, Baxter, Blake, Wilcox - all those guys outplayed their recruitment cred. Winning titles that way is almost near impossible, but Williams did it, so props. But the program should have had sustained high-level success.

JRo, I was kidding. I love Juan. I think it's cheap to go after Gary Williams here - and not sure why you'd do it. Guess who got the commitment from Alex Len.

Maybe it is, but I can't think of Cramer without thinking of Scottie Reynolds. And I can't think of Scottie Reynolds without thinking about his recruitment (which includes originally being committed to Oklahoma and then not following Samspon to IU. If Gary blinked at him he'd have been a Terp).

They didn't want Scottie because they'd already recruited Eric Hayes. Sad thing is that Hayes and Scottie were best friends and wanted to play together.

Also, Scottie felt disrespected because of a lot of crap about him apparently coming out of the Maryland camp. No PG skill, to small for SG, etc, so that when he backed out of Oklahoma he didn't give Maryland a shot. He drove over to GTown and asked in but they didn't have a scholarship.

Kinda blew that one. Could have had Scottie and Grevius together. Fun to think about.

They also didn't think Deron Williams, who wanted to go there, could play either.

Does make you wonder at times..........

That Dixon moment was absolutely classic and made me think we weren't all posting in vain--boy was that a long time ago.

While we are digging up blasts from the past threads, if anyone could find my "Dirty basketball tactics" thread, I would be much obliged. You people are dirty players; there were some great ideas in there.

Well, if this is going to turn into a request thread, anything with Stilldroppin20 regaling us with his love life and/or massive thighs would be awesome. Just give me a chance to hit the liquor store first.

Ah, the Dentist. You'll have to pick up an extra bottle for me.

or

I still don't think he ever got the jokes... Dr. Szell from Marathon Man and of course, Head Elf from Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer.

Wow, I can't believe it's been almost 8 years since I started that thread. I miss those days when the Wizards really mattered, when your heart and emotion was in and affected with the outcome of every game, it's been a long time since those days and we played games that have actually mattered.

Hopefully those days are not far off again, I miss going to MCI/Verizon and having a packed house actually almost all rooting for the Wizards.

At my age I have to pace myself, Rico. Ten posts per year seems like a lot for me.

But when this board brings together the Dentist, Cramer, and a trip to the liquor store, that's a party I can't resist. Throw in a Greendale zinger and we've got a recipe for comedy gold.

Taking a long term view, it looks like the migration from that old ESPN board is going pretty well.

It wasn't born with that, but certainly cemented its legend. An old poster, diderotn I believe, someone who didn't speak English as first language, coined the phrase. I believe Jared Jeffries had the honor of having the first thread dubbed with the title....

I miss diderotn.
