The thing is your trading for a 27 year old with 'potential' and one that would be getting paid $94m over 5 which is just crazy.

Well, he's clearly getting the fans to lower their expectation so if a deal doesn't happen, he'll be like "I told you" and if it does, he'll say "Well, we were able to work through difficulties to get the deal done."

At this stage, I'm pretty sure ATL is going to deal Smith and we have one of the most unfavorable deals for them, so Ferry has told BK they're going to see if they can do better, and if not, they'll deal with us.

Atlanta would be better off holding onto Smith to sign & trade him in the summer or even letting him walk than taking on Hump's deal, Brooks and our poor 1st.

I just don't see how a team outside of the Bobcats for Gordon, would take Hump without being given an asset to offset the fact Hump is an negative asset. For instance Hump & a 1st to Cavs.

Next year in the final year before the death taxs kick in, watch how many surprising deals are made to prevent teams having to pay out taxs at the end of next season. This is when Hump's or Gordon's huge expiring becoming big assets.

Howard is trying to get traded, I still think the Lakers will refuse to move him but you never know. It would take huge balls to force Howard to make a decision in the summer about where he signs as a free agent

Mike Greenberg was on ESPN radio with Ryan Ruocco and SAS discussing NFL news but at the end (around 1:25pm http://espn.go.com/espnradio/newyork/play ) he finished saying he believes Howard will be a Net at the deadline and went on about the taxes etc in LA.

SAS then put the chances of it happening at 20% even though Howard wants it to happen and wants to be a Net on Thursday and the Lakers know he wants to leave for Brooklyn.

smith loses any leverage the second a team is willing to rent him. and i can certainly see the spurs renting him, if all it costs them is their expirings and a first or mills.

I don't think the Spurs want to risk having an un-resigned and disgruntled Josh Smith on their roster ruining their team's chemistry.

If they make a deal for him, they better be prepared to meet his demands or he can be very toxic.

i cant see him being toxic under pop with his best chance ever to win a title. i think quite the opposite, he'd play the best ball of his life

you make it sound like he is stromile swift or something. potential? the guy is already an established borderline all-star who plays elite defense.

over the course of the last 3 seasons smith is averaging:

18.2 ppg
9.5 rpg
4.0 apg
2 bpg
1 spg

thats not "potential". thats being an established player in this league. if all you get from smith is what he is already giving you, that is still a fantastic player to have on your team.
