Josh Smith can't. This season Smith is:
17.4PPG 4.1APG 8.6RPG 17.91PER is not worth $94m over 5 years. You can't just trade for someone and pay him anything without repercussions long term and Smith on a $94m deal is a shocking deal.
Your not getting those stats playing with Williams, Johnson and Lopez so as 4th option, Smith isn't getting anywhere near 18ppg.
Josh Smith is the 1st or 2nd option for the Hawks and he's siting on a 46% field goal percentage with a whooping 50% free throw percentage.
I don't want Josh Smith because he is a problem and known head case while also wanting elite top player money while he isn't even elite or an All Star. Paying Smith $94m over 5 years is a ugly bad contract long term.
Compare Smith's stats even to Millsap's who isn't 1st or 2nd option on the Jazz while playing 5mins less than Smith per game:
15.1PPG 7.4RPG 2.6APG 1.1BLK 20.66PER in 30mins on a smaller contract which means Millsap remains a good asset going forward. Josh Smith with his huge deal starts to look a hell of a lot like Joe Johnson's deal real soon.
