This proposed deal does not mean it will happen. Luc does have a couple of years left on his deal. He'd give this team a big 3 who can slide to 4.

I'd like more details on what the pick would be.

I would prefer a pick that is not in this year's weak draft although it will likely be a protected pick.

We shall see. This rumor might not even happen although Berger is legit.

im iffy on shump but like others have said he can turn into something very special if healthy. luc on the other hand seems more like a hennigan type of guy, quite, long reach, team first type.

Worthless? There's always good talent in any draft, GMs just have to do their research!

I say we go after a guy with potential down the road in Steven Adams from Pittsburgh, with the Bucks potential pick.

I don't think Adams is coming out and if he does I don't think he drops to 16.

Worthless wasn't the right word but I think mid-late draft picks aren't that valuable this yr in a weak draft. Weak drafts happen. Look at 1998, 2000, and 2002. Even then those drafts had some stars in the top 10.

Guys like Burke, Oladipo, and KCP could definitely be off the board despite what mock drafts say. Do you expect to find a player better than JJ at 16 in this draft? Or even better than Shumpert(if the NYK rumors are even true)? Just a mid-round first pick for JJ doesn't seem like a lot of value. That's what the Rockets got for Buddinger.

I don't see what's wrong with re-signing JJ because I think he will hold his value (maybe even improve it). He's 28 and playing his best basketball. JJ being on a renewed deal and not expiring could potentially bring in more suitors.

Probably so. But, who's to say JJ will re-sign? Strategy definitely changes if JJ is non-committal at this point.

^^You are right, if JJ has alluded to not wanting to return everything I said was irrelevant.

Bye Bye JJ, it's been fun man. I think he's 95% sure to get traded. Hope he gets to play tonight at least though.

Not worthless, but certainly not as valuable as many here seem to think. Here's a great article on the value of NBA picks, by draft position. It may depress people who want to stock up on mid-first rounders, so read at your own risk:

JJ has been a class act, & I will def miss em.

Not the most gifted athlete, but certainly has one of the BIGGEST hearts. I will continue to root for him 100% if he does indeed get moved.

If Orlando trades Redick, I believe Afflalo will be right behind him. Why move such a reliable player like Redick, but keep Afflalo? Does Orlando see that they have two similarly producing players, and are just parting with the one that will fetch them a better deal?

I cannot imagine that AA fits into Orlando's long term plan.

Eh, it depends on how much better. There is something to loyalty and emotional connections, even in sports. Just in the same way that you shouldn't cheat on your wife if somebody slightly hotter comes along and offers it...

That being said, what are the ACTUAL rules (anybody KNOW, no guessing) about trading him for assets and then he simply walks in the summer and comes back and signs with us? I read that the new CBA restricts it for a year "if the player is traded and then waived", but if he isn't waived, can't JJ simply come back? I know it might not be kosher, but is it legal within the CBA?

JJ getting moved solely for a mid first round pick in this draft makes me wonder how much Afflalo and Jameer are worth on the trade market. Maybe the Spurs would be interested in Afflalo for a top-28 protected first rounder and a 2nd from Dallas for Jameer? Might as well put the tank into full gear..

If talks are serious, then I don't see him playing tonight.

I'm thinking that ATL trades Josh Smith for Monta, and then makes a big run at Dwight this summer. What they probably should do is look at trading Horford for Monta, cuz then you'll have a team with nothing but Dwight buddies! Haha

Lou Will
Monta
JSmith
?
Dwight

(those are some of his BFFs), and a pretty solid team as well.

I dont why everyone here is so juiced to move Redick for a mid 1st, I would think AA has the same value and unless JJ has said behind closed doors he will "explore" FA you move Afflalo

J.J.'s a free agent. Say we keep him, and he's courted by other teams. I really don't like our chances. For one, he'll likely sign with a contender. Two, he's not dumb. If he signs here with the Magic going through a transition period, he loses control of his destination. If I were him, I'd sign some place that I know had me in their long-term plans and not just brought back as a trade chip. I wouldn't feel that confident that he'd finish his new contract in Orlando if he re-signed.

Maybe, maybe not, but he has made it pretty clear he wants to stay here. Publicly, many times. I don't know what is going on behind closed doors, but I am sure JJ isn't demanding a trade either. Even if he did get the urge to want to be moved to a contender during the rebuild, I am sure he would have enough class to let Hennigan know privately and not kill all his trade value like Douche Howard.

the same loyalty that had JJ sign a sheet to go play with the Bulls?
