Re: CBS: Deal on the table: LRMAM, 1st for Redick.
I'm not a huge fan of Mbah A Moute, especially when the composition of your team necessitates playing Mbah A Moute primarily at SF, like ours does.
However, he does have value to championship contenders. I therefore think we should be trading Mbah A Moute FOR a 1st round pick and a junk player that is preferably expiring or perhaps just has one additional year on their contract. We shouldn't be trading Mbah A Moute AND a 1st round pick.
That makes it TWO 1st round picks we are missing out on in order to have Redick for 3 months. I like Redick, but that's absurd.

I would do Moute for Redick straight up. I don't really like Moute at the 3 and am concerned about his durability for another 2.5 years. Redick fills a need, sheds some more salary, and creates a little more breathing room for Tobias too.

Another thing, if the Bucks are supposedly the ones offering Moute AND a 1st for Redick, wouldnt you think the Magic would've said yes to this right away. Leads me to believe that the Bucks did not offer this deal and are the ones pondering it.

Jennings/Gooden/LRMAM for Reddick/Nelson/Nicholson.
Unless you're still drinking the "Jennings is a future star" Kool-Aid (which expired in late 2011 and went completely rancid in February 2012), that's a pretty fair deal for the Bucks.
Its OK except Nelson sucks but since I don't believe Herb will amnesty gooden I'd do it
BUT I'd rather let them deal w/ resigning reddick and instead do-
Jennings/Gooden/LRMAM/Daniels for Affalo /Nelson/Quinn

I've learned over the past few years on the board not to get too upset with rumors around the deadline until a deal goes down, as it turns out 90+% of them are garbage. If this one does go down however it would be an epic fail by us.

It always comes back to asset management with this lousy franchise. Doing transactions of this nature is why we've been in the gutter for so long. The Bucks are terrible because they do terrible things all the time. The Bucks need to work harder & be smarter than every other franchise if they're ever going to be successful. Is JJ Redick a good player and would he be a decent acquisition for Milwaukee? Sure. However, trading one of the best defenders in the league & a first round pick for a player who you can just sign outright in the offseason makes no sense. You're not getting him cheaply and you're not maximizing your assets. Sign Redick to something in the offsesaon if you like him, you'll have to pay the same rate anyways. He isn't the missing link to a championship this season.
Go Bucks!

If the price is like Gooden and something I rather have Gordon honestly. By a wide margin.
No kidding. Gooden/Udoh/Lamb for Gordon would be a home run trade IMO. Saves us from giving up asserts to get Redick to fill the hole at SG after a Monta trade.

Or more importantly to not get too excited by rumors...as in thinking you are close to acquiring Steph Curry only to have that celebration instantly turn into a funeral when the news breaks that your team is actually acquiring Monta Ellis instead.

this is spot on.
Why?
Well i have an opposite view of Moute on the Bucks, besides a star I think his defense and the defense of Sanders are the hardest things to get in the NBA and given our market we should build around that at this point (barring a trade for a star or star like piece)
This view shows a difference of opinion of direction but not of inherent obvious value. If the Bucks dont want Moute there are many situations by definition that do - and we should be able to play them off one another for a comparable asset at the least.
Redick is an easier player to get with a FA and age situation less desirable than Moute. We should be getting that value not giving it away and on top of that paying to do so.

I definitely agree with the premise that LRMAM should be drawing a 1st in return from a contender.
OKC or San Antonio would both be great spots for him.

Yes, don't forget we drafted the great Frank Kornet at 30.......but seriously no guarantees you even get a first for him without taking back salary.

Re: CBS: Deal on the table: LRMAM, 1st for Redick.
A 1st round pick that late is less valuable than an early 2nd round pick because of the guaranteed salary rules. (If I remember them correctly)

Re: CBS: Deal on the table: LRMAM, 1st for Redick.
If I am correct at gauging that this is a proposed Ellis/Smiff straight up trade?
Mark me down with OK, for this reason.
Ellis I'd say is 75% likely to opt out next year.
Smiff is 98% likely to opt out next year (Milwaukee factor).
Ellis is 50% likely to decline Milwaukee giving him top dollar for a better situation.

I think u meant to post in the other thread, but no, the overriding feeling is that the trade is Monta plus our first this year for Smth

Re: CBS: Deal on the table: LRMAM, 1st for Redick.
League sources say that if Redick is traded from Orlando, it’s hard to imagine that he won’t go shopping as an unrestricted free agent, making it even more risky to give up what could be a reasonable future player.

weak draft or not I am not giving up a first and Moute for Redick
few were high on Sanders, Henson, or Faried to name a few
Moute and a 2nd or include the first (lotto pretected) if they send O'quinn back

Luc should be worth more than Redick imo, especially 3 months of Redick
