Hmmm. Klay on my fantasy team. I must ponder how that will affect his stats.

So it was originally a 3-team race for Smith, between us, Milwaukee, and Phoenix, and now I'm reading that Phoenix is unlikely to deal for him. So that leaves us and Milwaukee, and Milwaukee is apparently offering a package centered around Monta Ellis...as crappy as our assets are, I can't imagine them preferring the Bucks' offer over ours...Ellis has an ETO for next season, and since he's probably not going to get a long-term, big money deal, he'll probably waive it and basically be an even lesser expiring next year than Humphries.

I'm not saying our offer of Hump and Brooks will get it done, but sweetening it with 1 or 2 draft picks and/or Bogdanovic might be able to get it done, simply because the Hawks might not get a better deal from anyone else. We might be the only team in the league that gives zero **** about the luxury tax.

And the fact Josh doesn't like Milwaukee and made that publicly known.

All Mike and Mike are talking about this morning on ESPN NY is Dwight Howard for Brook Lopez getting done by tomorrow afternoon. Greeny said he thinks it gets done. SAS was on and put it at a 25% chance of happening (but it won't, b/c it makes too much sense  ).

I would be heart broken and happy at the same time if this somehow happened. :-?

Warriors are nuts. Thompson is a great shooter, although obviously not of the quality of Gordon at SG, Thompson doesn't have the injury history. Would be another risky Warrior move.

I would love that deal from the Hornets perspective, Thompson, picks & filler for Gordon would give them move assets around Davis.

hoopscritic: Source tells me that Josh Smith sweepstakes down to 2 teams as of right now....the Milwaukee Bucks and the Brooklyn Nets....

hoopscritic: The Nets standing offer to Atlanta right now is Humphries, Brooks, and 2 first round picks. ATL trying to squeeze MIL for more....

hoopscritic: Important to note....these Smith talks are very fluid. Players involved could change and other team(s) could re-enter. Just BKN/MIL now

Chris_Broussard: Josh Smith would like to play w/Monte Ellis & Brandon Jennings so Bucks trying to make trade w/out giving up Ellis.

hoopscritic: Milwaukee in drivers seat for Smith. Expiring deals of Udoh and Dalembert are a big advantage over Nets offering Hump is the salary slot

I find it hilarious, that Josh Smith wants to play with Jennings and Ellis  But i would like their starting 5 from the Bucks perspective: Jennings, Ellis, Smith, IIyasova & Sanders. Bucks aren't getting any top free agents any time soon so their best root is to make a deal for Smith and make as good a team with what they've got.

Looking around the league, there really isnt any team I can find that even has a large expiring to trade to us or be involved as a third team to try and get smith. Was playing with the trade machine, and I can't seem to find anyone that fits...

The bucks are one of the few teams, but they want smith themselves and wouldnt help us. The spurs have SJax, but he is a key part to their bench.

anyone else anybody can think of? Because i think our best bet would be:

Hump +2015 first for expiring.

Expiring + Marshon + 2013 and 2017 firsts + rights to bogs for smith.

i cant see any other scenario where we can give atlanta an offer they even consider.

Ok, so it looks like King really needs to get on the phone with detroit, as they have the only realistic large expiring contract that we could obtain, with Magette.

Detroit in:
-----------------
Kris Humphries
Nets 2015 first round
Rights to Karman

Nets in:
---------------------
Josh Smith

Hawks in:
------------------
Magette (expiring)
Brooks
Rights to Bogs
2013 first, 2017 first

Why would DET want that though?

Giving up an expiring Magette for Hump who doesn't expire till next year and add yet another PF...that doesn't make much sense to me.

There is no way we're sending 3 1st rounders for Josh Smith.

Bucks can beat our offer easily without sending Ellis:

Throw in a 1st or 2 and we can't get near to that value. The problem here, if its true, is that Smith wants to play with Jennings and Ellis. If he said that about Williams, Lopez, Johnson then this deal would be a wrap and Smith would be a Net.

they get a first round pick and eurostash for their troubles. like i said, detroit is really our only option for a 3rd team in this. we would need to find something they would want. id ship them bogs, but then i dont think atlanta makes the move without him involved.

we could give detroit BOTH 2015 and 2017 picks, if atlanta would take just bogs and 2013 pick

Did gordon burn his bridges in detroit? if not we could get the bobcats involved:

nets get: smith

detroit gets: Gordon, 2015 first, 2017 first, karaman

hawks get: maggettes expiring, 2013 first, bogs, brooks

id give even 4 for him in a split second. perfect fit for our team more then any non-top 12 player in the league. elite defense from the 4.

i dont think smith "wants" to play with jennings and ellis... more that if he was traded to the bucks, he would want them to still be there to play along side him

looking around, it just doesnt seem realistic that anyone is going to deal us an expiring for humphries + first rounder(s).

that said, you scratch Smith, Millsap or anyone else that is an expiring contract big name player off the list, other then maybe dwight, which is a huge longshot.

hope we still do hump for gordon, that improves us, or at least balances us more

If we're going to lose out on Smith (and assuming Milsap), would it make sense to make the ATL-MIL trade for Smith include BKN too?

What I mean is would you guys take Illyosova in a 3 team deal, or should we wait until the summer to make a move?

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine/?tradeId=abctyvt

BKN - Big upgrade at PF, a guy that can stretch and shoot the 3 and can rebound... Evans goes back to the bench role definitely. Korver replaces Marshon, becomes our 6th man scorer off we really need. Tolliver was throw in to make the deal work for ATL.

1) ilyasova isnt a "big upgrade at PF". He isnt good defensively. and offensively while he can shoot the 3 he makes a TON of boneheaded plays. he is basially the same as what we have now only he can shoot from the outside. and if thats all we get, we may as well just play mirza more.

2) his contract is awful. why are we going to use the last of our assets that would allow us to bring in a 10+ million player and lock it into ilyasova for 4 years? thats like begging for us to be a trademill team that never has any chance of getting over the hump.

there are few players+contracts id want less then ilyasova. i was extremely thrilled when king didnt give him money this past summer.

WojYahooNBA: In pursuit of guard help, the Celtics have made rookie center Fab Melo available in trade offers, league sources tell Y! Sports.

Celtics making Fab Melo is available for a guard apparently, yet he was nothing special at all playing in the D League, yet Toko & Taylor ripped up D League.

The fact you'd send out 4 1st round picks and pay Smith $94m over 5 years is beyond crazy to me. We're talking about Josh Smith here, not Howard, not LeBron, not Wade, not KD.....Josh "Low IQ" Smith
