There is no way I'd pay Redick more than Jamal Crawford, the rumor on Orlando not wanting to pay more than 5million a year is exactly what it should be.

I think if Henny laid out some sort of plan, like we'll risk losing JJ for the potential of this 1st rounder becoming XYZ player, he might be able to convince Dan to do it and take on more money. It all depends on what $ value Henny places on a draft pick I guess. Maybe we'll find out today/tomorrow.

With your personal business, would you gamble this way? Would you pay 70% of your bills for things you don't use just for a very slim chance that you will get a return. Because, more than half the players taken in the actual lottery part of the draft end up being bench players. Then, maybe only (1) or (2) out of every draft end up All-Stars. Thus, you are looking at maybe 10% chance of getting a player that can make a difference. Otherwise, you are looking at players that may help you to .500.

I see no reasonable reason to tack on more salary for a mid round pick. If it was top 5, hell yeah! Otherwise, hell no.

THIS, I dont understand why everyone thinks we wont miss on a mid 1st? What makes you believe that Henny is going to find a real deal player at 14? It is a crapshoot picking in the top 5 let alone top 20!

Thing is, it's a crapshoot regardless, whether by trade, free agency, or draft. When we signed Grant Hill, we expected a top five player in the league. Didn't work out.

With that in mind, I see no down side attempting to build through the draft as opposed to other avenues. Nor do I see a problem taking on near term debt from bad contracts. We won't be spending on free agency for a few years. So as long as the money comes off the books by 2015, I see no issue.

At that point, we can hopefully sign an up and coming player just off his rookie deal to pair with our draft picks (three in the next two years as it stands and more if we can get them).

That seems to be the route we will go.

Told Magic want 1st rd or good young player for JJ, think he stays unless good offer comes RT @Airbed2121: No news? @mrlarryridley

I can see the Rockets offering us Terrence Jones for JJ straight up as the Rockets have $7M in cap space currently at the moment. Houston's priority is obviously this summer and the cap room they'll have $14M-$17M, so if we're looking for a good, young player on a rookie deal I think Terrence Jones would be a nice catch rather than the uncertainty of a mid-1st or what's been mentioned thus far w/ Milwaukee (Mbah-Moute/mid 1st, which I think won't happen because of the uncertainty of Redick re-signing), New York Knicks (Shumpert), or Minnesota seeking a quality veteran for one of there 1st's.

Obviously I'd love a pick included as well, but with Woj's news of Redick (or Tellem's) asking price and the uncertainty take this deal and run. Just my two cents. I can't see us netting a young prospect+1st round pick for JJ. And yes, I usually have my homer glasses on and "overvalue" our players but let's be real here. What would you prefer? A mid 1st or a "good, young player"?

I'd rather a pick, therefore having multiple 1sts and an ability to move up or down on draft night so our brainchild Henny can do his magic. I would be ok with a new young prospect instead, but please lord don't have the same roster a week from now. It's just sad. We lose to Charlotte and still we are 2 losses from bottom.

I wish we could help the Clippers somehow and get Bledsoe for our efforts.

What's more likely? Trade JJ or use the TPE as a 3rd team facilitator?

Trust me, I like Shump and his injury doesn't scare me, but he'll be eligible for an extension before Jones would which could hurt our cap room. Also, to make a JJ-Shump deal work out we'd probably have to take on Novak's ($16M/4 years) deal. If New York throws in a 1st, MAYBE. Though, I prefer the simplicity of the Rockets deal which allows us to secure a good, young player on a fresh rookie deal in which theoretically shedding JJ's salary without absorbing any unwanted salary going forward (such as Novak's) but just a rookie deal in Jones'.

I like. They'd probably cut Orlando out of the deal, but if we hung in there that'd be awesome. I think KG stays put for at least one more year, but it's good to dream.

I guess it depends how strong Boston's interest in Redick is. We'd have no problems taking Lee off their hands letting them resign Redick. Plus when Rondo comes back next year, they'd have him, Bledsoe, and Bradley running the point. Not necessary.

Slightly OT: In your opinion, Is this site worth a bookmark? I used to follow "Howard The Dunk"(Andrew Mel), but now that's "Presto In The Paint", with a new writer.

Would the Clippers want Granger? We could help them by sending Afflalo to Indiana...

Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

If we got shump or bledsoe, which i dont think we will, would we still draft a pg, or most likely go, bmac, shebazz or oladipo instead?
