I tried explaining this to the board... in the NBA defending the PG is the hardest position to defend.. the position is loaded with talent. Lin to me is an average defender at a position where the majority of the starting PG's are a little below average and where few are above average. What he lacks in foot speed he makes it up with pretty good instincts and size.

Jeremy's a 1, why would he guard Kobe or James during the whole game? You don't make much sense man

nah b, what doesn't make sense is you saying "I've seen him shut down Wade, Bron, Kobe, Wilt, Shaq, Jordan, Duncan, etc". One or two lucky defensive plays isn't shutting someone down, genius. Its just luck.

Agreed. PG is a very tough position to defend, and most PG's cant do it 1-on-1. It's kind of silly to expect them to when it's the quickest position with the best handles, and they are at the top of the key where the offensive player has the most room to operate.

Not to mention, it is one of the more exhausting positions on the other end.

They always get the sh*tty twin. They wanted to see what it was like to have the good one for a change

I can pretty much say with full confidence that if we had re-signed Lin and got someone like Ridnour to replace JR, we'd be in much better shape.

We wouldn't be watching the bottom fall out on our season with no real hope that the team can get it back together and be competitive come playoff time.

Umm... can you Knickstape or bfpri explain defensive synergy means? And the link that says his "defensive synergy" stats are bad?

Please don't let this turn into another Lin thread... they never end well. Maybe in a year or two we'll be able to talk about him rationally, but then again, prolly not. Just look at the recent Gallo thread.

As a fan of the position I'm absolutely loving this era of basketball... I wish more of the Pg's in the league were a little better at the subtleties of playing the position but the talent at the position is insane.

Picture this.. I'm a starting PG... one night I've got to guard Parker, then Paul, then Curry, then take a trip east to deal with Rondo or Irving.. then I've got Westbrook on a back to back... A night off is going up against a guy like George Hill who is going to make my night a living hell offensively.

go to mysynergysports.com and type in jeremy lin's name. it looks at points per possession in different scenarios.

Should stop it already. You say this now. What about the beginning of the season?
Lin played so poorly comig into the season that he would be on the end of the NY bench. Houston has time for him to recover and improve so that he can bounce back.

It's true. Nobody could have predicted his performance would improve and that he started the year in a slump.

 Especially since in the NBA only like 1 out of every 10 players actually improves.

Jrue is like the Lamar Odom (in his prime) of point gods. He's not quick, he's so casual in doing his thing yet he's (my name).

Odom's best year was in Miami the year before he got traded. Holiday is deceptively quick... he doesn't waste any motion though so it's sneaky.
