How far can he go?
I can't figure out this player: he has good IQ/awarness, good passing skills for a big man, but I can't acknowledge how much is due to the system and the good complementary fits this team has been assembled with

Re: Thiago Splitter's ceiling
System player IMO.
Evaluate his skills.
Post up game: I'd say average. Occasionally, he can post up and he does have a few up and under moves. But that's it. He always score right handed, he can't make left handed hook shots. And he's 27 years old. I think it's safe to say that he will never be a true post up scorer.
Shooting: Well, he can't shoot. Not at all. I don't mean FT shooting. Just shooting during a game. Has he even made a shot this year where he's shooting a jumper? I can't even recall seeing one.
P&R: This is where his value is the best. He's got to be considered a great P&R finisher even if he's not dunking like Karl Malone. He always knows where he's at, he plays the glass well, and he finishes even better. This is the sole reason I'd say Splitter is a system player. Because I think considering his offensive skill set, he's got to be in a P&R heavy offense.
Passing: He's pretty good as a passer in terms of P&R offense. When he gets the ball and he's got a man infront of him, he usually makes a good decision in passing it to another man under the basket. But not the kind of passing like the ones Diaw makes. I think his passing is getting a little overrated lately. He makes good decisions with the ball. I'll give him that.
That's basically the offensive game of a Big Man right? So offensively, he's a P&R finisher. That's it.
Defensively, the best thing is that he always hustle. He's got a good motor.
P&R defense is something he seems to be okay at because he's got good quickness for someone his size.
Weak side defense is definitely not his thing. He's good at taking charges. Not much of a shotblocker though. He'll get the occasional block, but not enough to be considered a shotblocker.
Low Post Defense. I wouldn't say he's great, but he certainly isn't awful at it. When we have a low post scorer on the opposing team, Duncan usually takes the challange though, ie: Al Jefferson/Dwight.
Rebounding. Safe to say he's NOT an above average rebounder. He's not a below average one either though. He's average, but nothing more.
And can someone pull up his pre-draft measurements? I'm really curious as to how long his wingspan are. Cause those arms look really short. How short exactly are they. It seems to be the only thing that's stopping him from being a better rebounder and shotblocker.
Sum this all up and I think he's considered an above average player.
Offensively, Splitter is a role player. He will never average 20 points a game simply by P&R to the basket unless he starts to develop a midrange jumper and a low post game. He looks to be a 14-15 point per game player at best. Rebounding also nothing special, so I'll give him at about 8 a game if he's getting 34 minutes. Won't ever be a shotblocker. And he's not gonna average 4-5 assists a game either considering the kind of passes he makes. You can't run an offense through Splitter like you do with Noah or Gasol. He's not that type of passer.

His ceiling is probably Tyson Chandler but with weaker rebounding

Re: Thiago Splitter's ceiling
To me he doesn't look like Chandler.
Splitter is a good role player that does all the little things well, but is not exceptional in anything.
His game is more like Varejao's game, with less rebounding and more offensive power. Splitter's ceiling is probably a 14/8 player, which would be more than fine for me.

Shaq on Duncan:SA won because of TD, a guy I could never break.I could talk trash to Ewing, get in D-Rob's face, get a rise out of Mourning, but when I went at Tim he’d look at me like he was bored and say:“Hey,Shaq, watch this shot right off the glass.”

Tyson Chandler? There's almost zero similarity to the both.
I'm seeing Splitter more like Pekovic. Right now, Splitter is basically a smaller version and a less polished offensive player of Pekovic.

My thoughts too. Inside scoring only big who can shoot FTs and flourishes alongside a pick and roll guard.
