Exactly. Atlanta is the only team that can give him the true max if they hold onto him, so Smith would have to work with ATL on a sign and trade if he wants his big time pay day

I thought in the new CBA sign-and-trades were exact same years and $ as signing in FA. Isn't that right? I think there is little leverage, as you saw with Ryno.

Plus, Atlanta is still having a relatively good year considering they lost Joe Johnson and haven't missed a beat. Would like to see how they do in the playoffs. That alone could change everything.
