Hello all. Thank you very much for coming back and checking out my new blog post! I plan on posting some more very interesting ones soon and have already started on them. Hopefully I can even find some time in the next few hours to write about some trade rumors. Happy trade deadline day!

The Kings are a trade partner that I have liked for a long time. I think they have MANY young talented players. The only problem s are there seem to be some maturity issues and the players seems to care more about themselves than the team. I think this is everyone and not the players I am looking for the Pacers to get. In fact, I’m very certain that one would be a great teammate (Jimmer Fredette) if given the opportunity and I believe the other doesn’t have so many bad habits that he cannot come back from them (Tyreke Evans).

The Kings are a very young, dysfunctional team. Team isn't the right word, more of a young, dysfunctional group of men looking out for their own interests. They have some talent there, though. Most of it is young talent, though, and they need some vets.

My trade is actually 2 parts. You can take just the first part of it, just the second part of it, or combine them for the most fair trade. As you may have seen, the Kings already made a trade later on Wednesday night. They traded their rookie PF who was the #5 pick overall in the draft. They also moved Francisco Garcia and Tyler Honeycutt to the Houston Rockets. In return they received Patrick Patterson, Cole Aldrich, and Toney Douglas.

Thomas Robinson is making about 3.375 million dollars this year and about 3.5 million dollars next year, according to http://www.hoopshype.com. The two years following that are team options, meaning if the team does not like how the player is playing they can cut him without having to pay him. In the summer of 2014 is the first time Thomas Robinson will have a Team Option. If the team picks it up they must pay him just under 3.7 million dollars. The following year is a Team Option year as well and if picked up then Thomas Robinson is owed about 4.66 million dollars. The last year of his contract is 2016/17 when Thomas Robinson has a Qualifying Offer. If Robinson’s team makes a qualifying offer, which is 125% of the player’s salary from the previous year or $200,000 more than the league minimum (whichever is higher), then the player is eligible to be a restricted free agent the following off-season.
Fransisco Garcia is making 6.1 million dollars this season and has a team option of 6.4 million dollars next year. A team option just means if the team thinks the player is worth the amount or more than the amount on the player’s contract they will pick it up. If they choose not to pick it up then the player is a restricted free agent. And the 3rd player that Sacramento traded is Tyler Honeycutt. His salary this season is $850,000 and next year there is a team option for $900,000.
The Sacramento Kings received 3 players: Patrick Patterson, Toney Douglas, and Cole Aldrich. Patterson was starting at PF for the Rockets. It is still to be determined as to who will start on the Kings. Patterson is making just over 2 million dollars this season and will make just over 3 million dollars next season. The off-season before the 2014-15 season will start with Patterson’s team to decide if they want to pay him over 4.3 million dollars. Toney Douglas is making just over 2 million dollars with year and has a qualifying offer of just over 3 million dollars that the Kings will have to pick up or let Douglas because an Unrestricted Free Agent this summer. The last player they received is Cole Aldrich who’s near 2.5 million dollar contract is up at the end of this year. It appears as though the Kings are trying to keep their contracts short and this may because of the possible move to Seattle in the near future.

One person I think the Pacers could REALLY use is a shooter to come off the bench and open up the floor. I think this can really help Lance and the 2nd team out. We trade for a guy who somehow only plays 14 minutes a game, mainly because I think he gets lost in the young shuffle there in Sacramento. I know he could SHOOT THE LIGHTS OUT, and that just isn't going to disappear.

I am talking about Jimmer Fredette. Like I said, he only plays 14 minutes a game and scores 7.3 ppg. He hits one 3 a game and is shooting 42% from beyond the arc. That is huge. He has a ton of talent around him but they don't know what a team is. Do they have a choice but to trade him?

According to Hoopshype, he is making about $2.5 million this year and next, followed with a team option of $3.2 million and a qualifying offer of almost $4.5 million is 2015-16.

At first I had the Pacers trading Gerald Green to the Kings. That is unlikely, though, as he has 3 years, including this year, on his contract at $3.5 million per year. DJ just has $3.5 million this year year, so I find it much more likely that the Kings want DJ and cut him with the money the Pacers give them. The Pacers can then sign DJ 10 days later or whatever that rule is.

Augustin, next years first, and cash ($3 million or so; and a 2nd rounder or something) for Jimmer would work. Augustin is an expiring contract. I wanted to say Gerald Green, but he is signed through 2014-15 at $3.5 million per year. It would be great if the Pacers could give them money and they reach a buy out agreement, but that is much more likely with Augustin.

The Pacers get a phenominal shooter. And the pick we'd be giving up is like the 26th pick. It is worth it to same the millions for an expensive bag of cheetos. I am open to suggestions on how to get Jimmer. I am sure all of them will be much cheaper than it should be to get a lethal 3-point shooter (example: Look at Redick!). But with this the Kings don't have to pay Jimmer another year. He then has a team option, which is nice for whoever has him. At this point he probably has not earned it, but I don't think he's been given a real shot. The Kings save money and get a pick or 2.

So now here is where I want to get a little greedy. Again, the Kings have so many young players. And they all want their shots. One guy I really like on their team is Tyreke Evans. According to HoopsHype he is making $5.25 million this year and has a Qualifying Offer of almost $7 million this year. So if experiment (strintly speaking on the Tyreke side) does not go well, then we lose a decent role player for an expiring contract.

But I think Tyreke can be much more than what he is showing today. He is averaging almost 16 points per game in 31 minutes. So he gets a good amount of shots. But again, watching them the couple times I have, it just seems the team is not disciplined and they're all looking out for each other.

What if we can bring Tyreke in and convince him to be our 6th man? He is now on a team that is looking to win a championship. There are leaders both in other players and in Coach Vogel and the other coaches. Let Tyreke come in with the 2nd unit and shoot plenty of shots and still score 15 pointers per game and be a dangerous player.

Would the Kings trade Tyreke? This is only his 4th tradee, but again, they could be moving to Seattle and not want to bring him along. They could view him as baggage when he just needs structure. The Kings also have Marcus Thornton who is averaging double-figures PPG in only 23 minutes of action. They also just traded for Toney Douglas who is sure to get some minutes at PG.

And the Kings just traded PF Thomas Robinson. And they don't want someone taking Cousins shots or any shots of this young players. So why not a tough, hard-nosed guy who has done some winning in the past and can play extremely tough grabbing boards and playing defense. Of course I am speaking of Tyler Hansbrough who is owed just over $3 million this year and has a qualifying offer of $4.2 million next year.

I find it a little interesting that the Kings already gave up on their #5 pick from just 8 months ago and think there will be another trade coming. Robinson is only 21 years old. Alrich is only 24, but his numbers are even less impressive than Thomas Robinson, as Alrich scorees less than 2 points per game, grabs less than 2 boards. The Kings did pick up Patrick Patterson who appears to be a very solid back-up. But this move is clearly to save money. It may affect my trade a little bit and there may have to be a change.

Right now I do not know the Kings starting 5. Obviously Cousins is at the 5. Jason Thompson was starting at the 4 and I expect him to continue to start. Patrick Patterson was starting for the Rockets, so he could be starrting at the 4 and Thompson could back up both spots. Or, hopefully in my case for my trade scenario, Cousins will start and Thompson is the back-up. Then Hansbrough can be the back-up at the 4. Or maybe they go big and Hansbrough can back up the 4 and, on occassion, the 3. Maybe this move is part of something bigger, like Rondo for Cousins...? And it looks like Sacramento is looking to shed salary so I would think they really want to move John Salmons.

I really think there will be another move, especially with either Cousins or Thompson, so they may need Hansbrough or we could be a smaller part of a large deal.

Anyway, Hansbrough for Tyreke does not work straight up, so if we really wanted just Tyreke we can throw in a free Hansbrogh and give them Ben. But also trading Hansbrough and Augustin for Tyreke and Jimmer works, too. We can give them money for DJ Augustin and maybe they can work on a buyout. Augustin wouldn't and should get minutes on a young team llike that. They have younger guys who are more talented that should get the minutes, in my opnion.

We would also give this years 1st rounder and I think it'd be fair to give our next year's 2nd round draft pick. So in the end it is:

Indiana Reveives:
Tyreke Evans
Jimmer Fredette

Sacramento Receives:
DJ Augustin (I want to make this Gerald Green but I think that would be much harder reach an agreement with him through 2014-15 at $3.5 million/year than Augustin til the end of the year. We can then just re-sign Augustin, hopefully, as he has been playing well)
Tyler Hansbrough
2013 1st round pick (likely to be #25 or worse)
2014 2nd round pick
$3 million

(The Kings use the $3 million to cut [hopefully] Gerald Green or more likely DJ Augustin)

Tyreke has a qualifying offer next year, but it is over double that of Hansbrough. Then with Jimmer he is signed through next year and then there is a team option in 2 summers. I think the Kings would rather get a couple draft picks than nothing.

I think the Kings will be moving 1 of their big guys. I wouldn't be surprisd if it is Cousins with Salmons just to save money. Then Hansbrough would be huge for them. They don't want to pay Tyreke over $6 milion, but they want something in return. The m

So overall the Pacers get Tyreke Evans and Jimmer Fredette. They give up DJ Augustin, who would most likely be cut with the $3 million or so we include and the Pacers re-sign them. We give up Hansbrough, our 1st rounder this year and our 2nd rounder next year.

Depth Chart:

PG: 1. Hill
2. Jimmer and/or Tyreke
3. Augustin?
Backup. Lance Stephenson
Far Backup. Ben Hansbrough

SG: 1. Granger (or George)
2. Jimmer and/or Tyreke
3. Lance Stephenson
Far Backup. Orlando Johnson

SF: 1. George (or Granger)
2. Lance Stephenson
3. Tyreke or Jimmer
Far Backup. Orlando Johnson

PF: 1. West
2. Pendergraph
If Necessary. Plumlee

C: 1. Hibbert
2. Ian Mihinmi
3. Plumlee
If Necessary. Pendergraph

And 1 other thing we could do is put George Hill at the 2 more often and have Jimmer or Tyreke run the point. I prefer Jimmer being at SG to spot-up for 3s. I'd like to see Evans use his speed to penetrate and get ball movement. That could be extremely dangerous if we went small with Jimmer at the 2, Granger at the 3, and George at the 4 and then probably Hibbert or Mahinmi; or possibly West.

You could also put Hill at the 2 or switch these quite a big. Hill, Tyreke, and Jimmer seems to be too small with just George at the 4. I don't know if Granger can play the 4 now because of his injury. Just something fun to think about. That's a lot of good shooting and would be a lot of fun. But obviously we are a defensive team-this would only be if there was an injury and foul trouble.

I hope to make a more condensed version, but I wanted to make a blog/blog-like post first. Thank you for reading and please let me know what you think about a trade with the Kings. I intend to talk about a trade to get Redick and some other players, so feel free to post a comment as to who we should trade for and who we will trade to acquire them.

Please keep checking in! I hope to have a new blog up soon with topics including the trade deadline, what the Celtics will do, and, if anything, do the Pacers try and make a move, along with why the Pacers will finish 2nd in the East.

I'd like to hear what your opinion is! Please share in the comments or e-mail me MidwestSportsDude@gmail.com and find me on Twitter @MWSportsDude.

Kings are just cutting payroll for new owners. I don't see us helping them by talking on a multi-year contract. getting Jimmer just cuts OJ's minutes and he is coming along nicely. sorry that you had to type so many words on an idea that is extremely unlikely to happen. we'd need the proverbial offer you can't refuse to risk team chemistry trading with us a win or two away from the #2 seed.

Over Tyreke Evans? OJ? Please.

If this deal was offered by Sacramento (and I wouldn't put it past Petrie) we'd be all over it. Evans isn't a superstar, but he could flourish next to a player like George. He'd start immediately and Lance would become 6th man.

But this would never happen, not even from the Kings.

I wouldn't give up two 1st round picks for Tyreke. He's an expiring, even if he is a RFA.
