Re: T-Rob traded?
Patterson is at best a risk. His rookie salary is almost up, and who knows HOW WELL he gets along with DMC.
If they're trying to cut money, that means we're just going to let him go in a year. OR, seeing how things have been going, we'll just outbid ourselves again and give him a max contract. We really couldn't net Terrence Jones or any other prospect?
Disappointed is an understatement. This is sucks.

Re: T-Rob traded?
There is no long-term planning here with this deal, no one in current organization actually cares what happens after they finish paying the salaries after the 82nd game of this season.

Re: T-Rob traded?
I honestly think you guys are overreacting, but it'll all depend on how T-Rob turns out elsewhere.

It's pretty rare for a top 10 pick to be traded 50 games in. Petrie & the Maloofs have done a lot of damage to this roster over the years. It will take years & a lot of cash to fix this team.

Actually I don't think so. Before the draft we could've moved him for Patterson and the Rockets later picks in the first, I'm sure. This is a guy that Petrie called the second best player in the draft and we have moved him four months later with very little playing time to see what he could actually do. Unfortunately, watching him continually try and bring the ball up the court in Sumer League and our misguided attempts to play him at small forward (Please Use More Appropriate Word) his growth even further. What most teams that have an actual clue does is give a player a role and let him become adjusted and then expand that role. What we do is throw them out there with little regard to fit or role and see if they sink or swim. Looking at our player development, our method isn't working.

At first, since they create themselves and are not depended on systems or lack of.
As time went on, the toxic in the air got in to them aswell.
Patterson isn't as skilled as them in terms of creating for his own not needing others - and that applies x100 to T-Rob who'll do much, much, much better in Houston just by having a structure aswell as ball movement and spacing (Both things Patterson needs to trap a bit of in a bottle and bring as a souvenir to Sacramento as a reminder that it still exist when the going gets tough - and it will)
Which is exactly why in theory Patterson is a much better fit and could work very well for this team. It's the same reason why JT "looks" like he's the best fit along the frontline. Problem is he isn't a great shooter and not so hot on defense. This team doesn't need number producing, they need somebody to spread the floor, hit open jumpers, and put a body on his man. The shooting is a primary factor. Since Patterson has developed that corner 3, he could very well be a great compliment to Cousins and Evans.

Re: T-Rob traded?
what this team needs is an actual system and management that could use and maximize on a player like T-Robs potential, rather then throw him to the curve after a few months and say "oh well we suck at this, might aswell get someone who can play right now without us being able to destroy his game TOO MUCH".
The way some of you guys are trying to rationalize this is equal to saying "What you got there, a giant hole in your belly? ok lets put a band-aid on it!"
This management and majority of the front-office would be gone ANYWAYS next year if they move to Seattle or stay in Sacramento, so I don't see the need to plan and think about how players fit in THIS current front-office, this current roster, this current system.
If this team is to remain in Sacramento which we all hope, Thomas Robinson would have been a much better part of its future then Patrick Patterson - and it's not cause the Maloofs need to give us the big old "**** you" one last time and cash some last minute $$ ordering Petrie around.

Re: T-Rob traded?
Sleeping on it, the deal isn't all THAT bad (in terms of short term implications).
I mean, sure, it's insane that we traded a top-5 rookie in his first year but in all honestly, he would have not fit well with Cousins. T-Rob would excel if he is paired up with a defensive-minded player that can block shots at a high clip. Cousins is not such player.
Patterson will definitely make this team better and he should be starting next to Cousins the first day he gets here. He's the floor spacer that we need for this team. He reminds me of a 3PT version of Brandon Bass. A steady player that can hit open shots.
Douglass is another player that I initially hated when I heard the deal but looking at his numbers (3PT) in his career and his reputation as a defensive-minded player, he should be a solid fit next to Tyreke in the backcourt if he returns to his form couple of years ago.
The season is over for us might as well start a lineup that consists of:
Evans
Douglass
Salmons
Patterson
Cousins
The players from SG to PF have 3PT capabilities (Tyreke has been improving too), and the 1-3 positions are decent defensively.
It's worth a shot.

Re: T-Rob traded?
IT 2.0 has deserved to be our starting PG for the time being, but the problem is, we need a Doug Christie type player next to him. Realistically, the best SG next to IT was a younger Garcia.
And if Douglas is going to be playing SG....we are in a world of trouble.

Re: T-Rob traded?
This is one of the worst trades I've ever seen. Give up on a #5 pick halfway through his rookie year... yikes.

I more disgusted we wasted a top 5 pick on Thomas Robinson. I thought Barnes or Lillard at the time of the draft. This is ridiculous.

That's the whole point though.
Who cares about short term implications? what are we gonna fight for?
It's a stupid trade that was dropped down on our FO head just like the Jimmer pick, with 1 thing and 1 thing only in mind - money.

I agree with you.
It's simply idiotic to trade away T-Rob in his first year. Especially if their reason was "cutting salary" LOL
That said, getting a solid young guy in Patterson would do wonders for the spacing in the floor. And from what I've heard, Patterson was known as the "big brother" to Cousins in Kentucky. If anything, this trade is to keep Cousins at bay and less of his childish antics aside. I'm disappointed that T-Rob is gone (T-Rob can be a Milsap-level kind of player) but if I can get a guy that can successfully keep Cousins out of trouble, I'll do it. Cousins is still immature but he's our best piece in towards becoming a good team in the future. We need him playing on the court not watching games from his home.

Re: T-Rob traded?
Was this trade possibly made to piss of Sacramento fans, so it would be easier to sell to Seattle.
Makes ya think a bit.
Considering this kid's potential, I just don't get this trade at all.

I was thinking that too. One big middle finger to Sacramento and maybe turn more people away from attending a game. Where is Stern to step in and say enough is enough...
Looks like Seattle group was briefed on the trade...

Sacramento fans deserve better. This deal is horrid. You don't trade a rookie halfway through his rookie deal that was considered as high as a #2 pick. Kings chose him over Lillard, Drummond, and Barnes.
This just has a bad smell to it.

If that's the case it means they scared cause they know we got a legit shot to keep the team here and go to extreme measures being desperate, so I'm really hoping that's why it happened..
But no, it's strictly about cash to George Maloof so he can score more coke and pay more hookers, me thinks.

I'm posting here instead of creating a new thread. Keeping track of TRob's progress in Houston. He sat out his first two games and played limited minutes in the following games. I hope he reaches his early thought potential with the Rockets.
vs Bucks 8 mins, 2 points (1-1 FG, 0-2 FT), 1 Reb, 3 Fouls
vs Magics 13 mins, 2 points (1-1 FG), 2 Reb, 1 Fouls
