There's only a little more than an hour left, and the biggest move was T-Rob to the Rockets last night. That's pretty much it. This is the most boring trade deadline I can remember, by far.

Be patient my fellow Nets fans.
You will hear something around 3:30pm/4pm today after the deadline. I think we have a shot at Smith now.
Rockets say no to Smith. Suns don't have anything they would offer and Smith won't stay in PHX now that they have imploded.
Bucks will not give up Ellis.
If all of this is true then guess who is in the driver's seat? Yup. We have a shot. ATL cannot just let him walk for nothing. Even if they grab Marshon and a 1st round pick plus Hump that is MUCH BETTER THAN NOTHING.
Marshon might not turn into an All-Star but he will be a great 3rd or 4th option on a team once he is coached properly and molded correctly after 2 years. A first round pick can be used or traded and has value. Hump expires after next season. They aren't getting Dwight if Josh is gone. Not after this season is over.
So take all of that in. If no Smith I would take Pierce for 1.5 seasons and see what damage we can do in the playoffs next season when Deron is healthy and we have a scoring 4 who plays D and runs the floor (our biggest need other than health at the moment).

Should rule out Paul Pierce trade because they won't take Crawford and Brooks.

Really surprised that the Spurs so far haven't been able to unload Stephen Jackson's huge expiring. They could easily grab Josh Smith, based on the trade offers from other teams so far, if they offered Jackson, filler, and a pick.
Parker
Green
Leonard
Smith
Duncan
Manu, Diaw, Splitter, Neal, Bonner, etc. off the bench.
Maybe they're happy with Jackson, and plan on keeping this core for the next couple of years by re-signing him to a reasonable deal in the offseason, who knows.

Getting nothing is better then taking on humphries contract. If we dont find a 3rd team to take hump atl will not trade with us

Teams are holding 1st round picks in a much higher regard now due to the cheap contracts attached to them. Also with the new lux tax penalties coming next season, teams are being really careful with their money.
Only the Nets has shown the lux tax doesn't effect them. Knicks let Lin go due to the lux tax payments and belief he wasn't worth the contract while LA is looking to make moves to reduce their bill.
Humps huge expiring deal, added to our willingness to take on bad contracts sets us up for a big move next season with assets added and all our future picks going forward.

This sucks...even if we can't get Smith, which doesn't look likely, Billy can't stand pat. We need at least a shooter or a decent PF.

Re: Trade Targets, Part Deux
So, that deal proposed on this thread before, about a 3-team deal with Maggette as the big expiring to send to Atlanta...couldn't we send a 1st rounder to them to try and convince them to take Hump for Maggette?
Atlanta gets Maggette, Brooks, 1st rounder
Brooklyn gets Smith
Detroit gets Humphries, 1st rounder
Atlanta gets their salary relief, they get a young prospect, and they get a 1st round pick. Not a terrible severance package. I don't think they say no.
We get Smith. We definitely don't say no.
Detroit is stuck with Humphries for an extra year, but they get a 1st rounder for their trouble. If teams really are valuing draft picks that highly now, wouldn't they be ok with that?

Mirza is both, and he's rotting on the bench.
