Wow I can finally log in again. Today has been rough on the RealGM forum servers.

It's 2:04, and nothing. Is no move at all the safest move for the Nets???

So, that deal proposed on this thread before, about a 3-team deal with Maggette as the big expiring to send to Atlanta...couldn't we send a 1st rounder to them to try and convince them to take Hump for Maggette?

Atlanta gets Maggette, Brooks, 1st rounder

Brooklyn gets Smith

Detroit gets Humphries, 1st rounder

Atlanta gets their salary relief, they get a young prospect, and they get a 1st round pick. Not a terrible severance package. I don't think they say no.

We get Smith. We definitely don't say no.

Detroit is stuck with Humphries for an extra year, but they get a 1st rounder for their trouble. If teams really are valuing draft picks that highly now, wouldn't they be ok with that?

No, apparently ATL is reviewing their offers til the last minute.

Also, IIRC as long as you are talking to the team that you are working out a deal with, you can extend past 3pm.

So a trade could happen that could technically not be resolved till a few hours after 3pm.

Dude, DET is not taking Hump.

It makes absolutely no sense to take on $12mil of additional salary for an extra year, when you can just have the cap space.

If Hump was actually a star player, then teams would want him, but no one wants that contract to clog up their cap space. A late 1st round pick means very little especially in this draft.

No, detroit wouldnt do it. They traded their own first rounder just to get rid of gordon. They wouldnt take a first from us just to get the same contract back

There's a reason why Tom Penn is only a capologist, and not a GM. He sucks in talent evaluation...and ethics, if the rumors of why he was fired from the Blazers are true.

i hope our mighty FO has been exploring other deals not named Smith...

Yeah, I feel by 3:15 i will cry knowing that Reggie is starting and/or we have no punch off the bench.

I hope King has as good of a relationship with Lindsey as he did with O'Connor and can pull something off for Millsap.

He's far from perfect but assuming he takes a reasonable contract, he would be a welcomed addition that improves plenty of areas where this team could use improvement at that position.

i wouldn't mind being involved in a atl-mil trade even if smith goes to mil. tobias harris would be kind of a nice grab for us, henson too but i doubt he's available. smallish deal with some combo of marshon, a 1st, or a euro could be a nice deal for us.

I know BK is primed for another Gerald Wallace-type abomination of a trade.

If King could get Henson, I'd give credit where credit is due for that move.

Just got back. So what is the situation? Rockets are out, Bucks are in the lead, Nets are a "long shot", and Atlanta might keep Smith?

Basically.

It's a two horse race...with 12 minutes left.

This is exciting, cuz if we do the deal, I already have tix to Sunday's game. :)

OKC/Portland talking trade that would send Maynor to PDX and Magic working on a 3-team trade to send Redick out. Milwaukee is one of the two other teams; out on Smith?

11 minutes. Northern, Evo, we may not have to march on King's office today.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
