Maybe instead of benching him after a good month (statistically), the Wizards should have just announced that Crawford had a terminal case of leprosy. And THEN traded him for less than nothing.

Who is man enough today to come on here and defend Ernie?

What a freaking epic fail. Ted will probably spout off about adding a veteran and getting rid of a malcontent being the most important thing. Where in fact they actually could have played him and raised his value.

This has to be one of the worst franchises ever. Sure, Crawford had his flaws, but I don't recall any team ever parting ways with a young guy with potential with small salary for an expiring, injured vet that will likely never contribute. It just makes no sense.

I was no huge fan of Crawford, but I actually think there was marked improvement in Crawford this year. People point to our record when Crawford was playing to make the point he sucked, but I actually recall that the Wizards were competitive in many of those games because of the play of Crawford. I think our poor record prior to January was more because of the lack of Wall, and the crappy play of Okafor, Ariza, and even Beal, than anything Crawford did. The Wizards have improved because Wall came back, and because Okafor, Ariza and Beal made significant improvements in their play, not because Crawford was sitting.

I think Crawford could have still contributed to this team and I think there was room for continued improvement. If handled appropriately, he could have been a valuable 6th man. Instead, the Wizards basically screwed him after he was injured, drove down his value, and then traded him for basically nothing when his value was at an all time low. This organization sucks and I am becoming more certain that after 17 years of being a Wizards season ticket holder, I am not going to renew next year.

Luckily no. Wizards had a chance to sign him in the offseason for peanuts but did not pursue.

This strikes me as an ownership move, wanting to make absolutely sure the Wiz aren't paying the luxury tax. I question some of Ernie's moves but I don't think as a talent evaluater he equated Jordan Crawford to be worth absolutely nothing. This is ownership avoiding the luxury tax.

It would only be Grunfeld-esque if we first sicced our crack medical staff on Barbosa first.

THEN have Grunfeld sign him. To a max contract.

(Veteran leadership and all that).
