Not really sure I get this. Had he not traded JJ you could say... "Henny didn't trade JJ and we can't afford to resign him for 8m+ a year, so we got hosed." Or, "We got the number 22 pick for JJ and it didn't pan out, we got hosed."

I'm not really sure what trade you'd consider good for an expiring free agent who wasn't even a starter on the 2nd worst team in the league. I love JJ, really I do, but we weren't getting Kyrie Irving for him.

ESPN Scouting Report
Tobias Harris Scouting report
+ Scoring combo forward with good ball skills. Smart player who draws fouls.
+ Needs to lose baby fat and improve jump shot. Unselfish, hardworking player.
+ Not a great athlete. A tweener who must improve defense. Can score in post.

Analysis
Harris showed potential as a scorer as a 19-year-old rookie; in his limited minutes he averaged 17.4 points per 40 minutes, drew scads of fouls and shot 68.1 percent in the basket area. He's not a great shooter, however, making six 3-pointers all season, so without the ball in his hands it's less clear how he can contribute.

Harris' best avenue to minutes on this roster is at the 3, where he can bully smaller defenders on post-ups, and he could end up being a go-to option for the second unit this season. If so, he'll need to cut his turnovers and share the rock a bit more -- typical rookie shortcomings.

Defensively, he's a tweener who needs to get better. He fouled too often for a wing player last season and mobility will never be his strong suit, but he has good size for a wing and he's an excellent rebounder. He's also big enough to serve as a 4 with small-ball units, where his scoring ability could prove difficult for opposing bigs to counteract. Alas, Milwaukee's surfeit of power forwards makes it unlikely he'd see much duty in that alignment this season.

Doron Lamb Scouting report
+ Smooth, long-armed wing with deadly 3-point shot. Very solid ball handler.
+ Pathetic rebounder for size. Must add strength. B athlete at best.

Analysis
Shooting specialists often make for great second-round picks, and I like Lamb the best of the specialists. He shot 46.6 percent and 48.6 percent on 3s in his two years at Kentucky, plus his ballhandling numbers were very strong -- he might be able to play point in a pinch.

Lamb may be a defensive liability because he's not much of an athlete. He blocked two shots in 1,249 minutes at Kentucky last season, had one of the worst rebound rates of any prospect, and shot only 48 percent on 2s. He also had, by far, the worst rate of steals of any perimeter prospect in the NCAA this year; in fact his was the worst of any player under 7 feet tall.

So in a few years if both Harris and Harkless turn out do we have to trade one?

The cycle that never ends :o

Familiar?

20 - Doron LambKentucky

Birthday: 11/6/91
NBA Position: Shooting Guard
Class: Sophomore
Ht: 6-4
Wt: 199
Hometown: Laurelton, NY
High School: Oak Hill Academy
Team Site Profile

Overall
92
2012 Mock: 42 Big Board: 25 Pos Rank - SG: 6
NBA Comparison: Cuttino Mobley

Strengths: Highly efficient offensive player (50% FG) with an old school style ... Assassin-like scorer (16.5 PPG) in the "crafty" mold ... The mid-range game is his natural comfort zone, but his three-point aptitude has been a revelation (49% as freshman, 52% as soph) ... His jumpshot mechanics are clean and he gets solid elevation ... Shows the ability to put the ball on the deck with either hand, and his aggression level is on the uptick (4.5 FT attempts) ... His go to move off the dribble is a cross over + step back to create space for a mid-range J ... Plays at a controlled pace in congruency with his calm and cool demeanor (0.5 TO) ... No wasted emotional energy on the court ... Shot selection is no longer a concern, as he stays within his role in the offensive structure and doesn't force opportunities ... Extremely active trying to get open off the ball ... Utilizes screens effectively and has a quick trigger in catch and shoot situations ... Defensive effort is a staple ... Makes up for lack of size with tremendous length and moves well laterally ... His projected role at the next level is already defined: a knock down shooter with well rounded skills and the ability to handle if necessary ... Also shows the versailtiy to play the point position in spot duty as he did as a freshman backing up Knight as well as in High School at Oak Hill ...

Weaknesses: Despite his ability to score the rock, the fact remains that he's caught between positions ... He lacks the playmaking ability (1.6 assists as fresh, 2.8 as soph) to handle the point guard spot full time, and the size/strength to effectively defend NBA two's ... Remains a shoot first, shoot second, create third guard ... He's added weight, but must get stronger ... While Lamb is a smooth athlete, he has no eye popping tools ... Explosive lift and extreme quickness are not part of his repertoire ... Not overly inclined to attack the bucket or finish at the rim ... Will struggle to get his own shot against premiere athletes, reliant on an offensive set or someone to create for him ... A complimentary part on a winning team, similar to his current role at Kentucky ... Doesn't have the personality or elite physical gifts to take over a game ...

Notes: Measured 6'5 (in shoes) 204 lbs, with a 6'7 wingspan at the 2011 Kevin Durant Skills Academy.

Thunder land another wing to push Jeremy Lamb down to 5th string SG.

You could not pick up the option, fill the roster spot with a 1 year minimum contract, and accomplish the same result while saving your owner over 3 million dollars. I suppose he could represent a 4mill expiring in a trade next year, but I'm not sure if I see us as buyers in the trading market next year.

My guess is we're either getting a 2nd from the Cats, or they otherwise played some kind of role to facilitate the deal and saved a bit of money for their trouble.

The season is almost over....we don't save them the difference in salary, we save them the prorated difference. Isn't that only like $250K?

Hey man, that's a lot of McDoubles.

No but really, I suppose you make a good point. Hell, I don't know.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

Maybe McRoberts really is a starting player and Henny sent him to the Bobcats to help them win more games...

Still don't get the McRoberts/Warrick swap and then waiving Warrick. Do we save cash?

my 2 cents:

Sucks seeing JJ go but lets face it, we would have had to over pay (considering we have Afflalo) to keep him; and he said multiple times he wants to contend which we are no where near.

Would have been nice to get draft picks but we did get promising young talent in Harris and I personally like Lamb; Udrih is an expiring contract; and we got rid of Ayon, Ish, and McRoberts.

Not saying this was the greatest deal ever but people would have been upset (not everyone) if we stood pat and lost him for nothing in the summer.

So much like the Howard trade and drafting Nicholson and O'Quinn, I am just going to trust in Hennigan because he has done pretty well with the sh*tty hand he was dealt (getting Harkless, Afflalo, Vuc, picks)

Would have rather taken a 2014 pick if available, or S&Ted for cap space this off season.

I have a hard time believing this was the best package available.

McRoberts could have been a GM agreement, that we would trade him before the deadline, could have been a minutes thing with Harkless. Not sure we'll ever know.
