9 points, 7 rebounds, 3 AST vs DEN in 27 Min
5 points, 6 rebounds, 6 AST, in 33 Min @ PHI (The only time he got 30 minutes in the last month and a half)

I wanted us to sign him as a FA over a year ago.

Sad as it sounds I'm stoked about this trade, something for nothing.

I'd much rather see Jeff Adrien get any minutes he'd take.

i definitely like the passing aspect of his game, something none of our bigs can do.

Knowing our luck he averages 12/9/4/2/1 on 50/40/90 and gets a monster deal in FA...but not from us.

Honestly I like the deal for what it is. It is not flashy and probably doesnt bring us any extra wins, but McRoberts is one of the best passing bigs in the league, has good athleticism and is clearly a better overall player then Warrick.

theory from the magic board is that magic will pick up warricks deal for next year and try to use his expiring 4mil deal as a trading chip next year since they werent interested in the cap space this year.

interesting theory but thats quite a gamble for 4 mil dollars.

thats the only explanation i have seen so far though. otherwise the magic just gave us a better play + 800,000 dollars (prorated of course).

Any team that is willing to pick up a 4 million $ contract to hold onto him as an expiring is kind of stupid.

that....would be incredibly dumb IMO. just sign a player in free agency for that money, then? that said, i am groping around for reasons for the magic to do this, and all i can come up with is
1) making a very minor move that very minorly helps the bobcats in exchange for future considerations
2) warrick's skill set is actually something they're interested in
3) chemistry issues needing resolution on the magic squad

all of those sound pretty unlikely as well. who knows. maybe they just wanted someone to block a few shots and get some dunks with ayon going to milwaukee? warrick is also a marginally better rebounder than mcroberts, i guess?

Sam Amick ‏@sam_amick
The Magic are expected to waive Hakim Warrick, who they received in the deal with Charlotte that sent Josh McRoberts to Bobcats.

scratch that magic theory.

now trade really doesnt make sense.

McRib has serious passing skills for a bigman, can shoot the 3. Has good handles and jumps out of the gym. He should be a better player then he is with those skills. Maybe he takes it to anther level, but right now he's a hustle player that can pass and throw down an occasional dunk.

Good luck McRoberts, hope he does well for you guys (or i guess he's just an expiring for you guys)

so now the only theory is that mcroberts was some kind of distraction or chemistry problem that had to be removed to make room for guys like harris, harkless and nicholson.

Yes Josh is better than Warrick. I liked him as a possible bench/role player at one point. He might still provide some of that, but frankly he's probably gonna play out his remaining contract with us and that's it.

No help came via this deadline. We're stuck till the offseason, and Gordon is here to aggravate our Dumba** coach (I kind of think that will work itself out).
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

but yeah, why not just waive mcroberts? unless they think they can trade him to get rid or a problem, then have a deal with warrick for a buy out where warrick accepts the less than what is owed for the chance to go sign with someone else saving the magic some cash. but who the hell is gonna sign warrick so what would his motivation be?

Stupidity?

I have never heard of McRoberts being any kind of cancer.

or maybe the magic just really wanted to see mcroberts get the chance to compete for a job but they werent interested in playing him over developing their youngsters so they agreed to send him somewhere that he could compete for minutes. magic being nice guys and eating some salary in the process.
